The Council met in regular session, August 23rd, 1926 at B P.M. with Mayor Maley, preeding y Councilmen Conley, Dutton, &imbrough, and Wheeler, present, and Mumford and MoCennel, abs eat. It was voted on motion of K,mbrough, seconded by Wheeler, that the City Clerk be instructal to call for bids for Fire Fighting Apparatus of the 760 gallon type on &.double combination P%*or and Truck. RESOLUTION 160. 34, by Mimbrough was presented as follows; " A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND FINANCE COMMITTEE TO BORROW A SUFFICIENT SUM L MONEY TO PROVIDE FOR THE EXPENSE NECESSARY FOR REPLACEMENT OF A PUMPER AND FIRE ENGINE FOR FIRE DEPARTMENT, NOT ESOEEDING THE TOTAL SUM OF $13,000.00." WHEREAS, it is provided by Section 4066, Idaho Compiled Statutes, that tbeCity Council order, by a two - thirds vote, the repair or restoration of any improvement, the necessity fox is caused by any casualty or accident happening after the annual arpropriation is made;and, WHEREAS, certain of the fire equipmeny in use by the fire department, that is to say, t fire engine or pupper,has become so deteriorated as to require immediate replacement, in ox properly safeguard the property and safety of the citizens of the City of Caldwell, and the bureau of the State of Idaho, in its recent survey of the fire hazards of said City and the equipment of theb fire department of sold city, ham announced its intention of increasing t on fire insurance unless adequate equipment for fighting fire is immediately imstallbd in e fire department; and it appearing that the pump on the Webbfire engine used for creating p in fighting fires, has become so warn and depreciated as to be practically useless,, and it necessary that suoh pump be immediately replaced for the purpose of ooneartring and protecti . property and safety of the citizens of said city in case of fire; therefore ' Be it resolved by the ; Mayor and Council of the City of Caldwell, Idaho: Section 1. That an emergency exists whereby it is necessary that the City of Caldwe immediately purchase a fire engine and pumper to replace the Webb fire engine belonging to fire department of the City of Caldwell, which has heretofore been in use, said equipment b necessary for the purpose of creating pressure in the fighting of fire. Section E. The Mayor and finance Committee of the City of Caldwell are hereby autho and directed to borrow a sufficient sum to provide for the expense necessary to be incurr purchasing equipment consisting of a new pumper and chassis for the replacement of said Web' engine. not exceeding the total sum of Thirteen Thousand Dollars($13,000.00). section Z. The rinance committee is hereby authorized and directed to eall for bi the pimehase of equipments consisting of a fire engine and pumper, both assembled and pumps . chassis separate. The Mayor directed the Clerk to call the roll on a motion made by Kimbrough and seconi by Conley, that Reesolution No. 34 be adopted, which result was as follows: AYES: CONLEY, DUTTON, KIMBROUGH, AND WHEELER. nyts: NONE. ABSENT: MUMFORD AND MCCONNEL. The Mayor decalred the motion had carried, the resolution ad and directed the City Clerk to make proper entry of the some in the Journal of Proceedings.
