HomeMy WebLinkAbout1950-08-07city council minutesThe Regular Monthly Meeting of the City Council met in the Council Rooms of the City Hall, with the Mayor Leo J. Mason presiding. Upon Roll Call the following douncilmen answered presents Wm Glaisyer, L. E. Burrell, John Myers, Fran Blomqudst, Dale Fenrich and J. M. Bettis. Mr. Dave Ulrich was present and requested the vacation of certain easements for a public street .granted the City of Ca).dNel.l. Moved by Burrell, seconded by Blomquist that this request As granted and the City Attorney be in- structed to prepare the necessary Ordinances. Upon Roll Call it appeared the motion was unanimously carried. Thie being the time set by notice to hear protests against closing a portion of an alley in block 979 Strahorn. There was no one present for or against the closing of this alley. Thereupon Councilman Burrell introduced 8111 No 59 entitledt AN ORDINANCE RECITING THE PASSAGE, APPROVAL AND PUBLICATION OF ORDINANCE NO 753; DETERMINING THAT NO OBJECTIONS TO THE VACATION OF THE SOUTHEAST HALF OF THE ALLEY IN BLOCK 97 OF STRAHORN ADDITION N0. 1 TO THE CITY OF CAM,ELL, IDAHO, HAS BEEN MADE OR FILED AND THAT NO CLAIM OR CLAIMS FOR DAMAGES R'HICH VSOULD RE SUSTAINED OR DAMAGED BY REASON THE��EOF HAVE GLEN FILE'Or DETERMINING THAT THE VACATION OF THE SOUTHEAST HALF OF THE ALLEY IN BLOCK 97 OF STRAHORN ADDITION NO 1. It was moved by Councilman Bettis, seconded by Councilman Byers that the rules requiring that the reading of a Bill on three separate days be suspended and Bill No 5, be read the second time by title and the third time in full section by section and placed on the final passage. The Mayor directed the Clerk to call the roll on the above motion with the following results Those voting in the affirmative Were: Glaisyer, Burrell, Myers, Blomquist, Fenrich and Bettis. Ne,;ativer None. Absent and not votingt None. The Mayor declared the motion had passed by the necessary three fourths majority and directed the Clerk to read Bill No 5, the second time by title and the third time in full section by section. The Clerk read the Bill as directed. The question being "Shall 'ill No 5 pass?" The Mayor directed the Clerk to call the roll an the above Question which resulted as followes Those voting in the affirmative were- Glaisyer, Burrell, Myers, Blom. quiet, Fenrich and Bettis. Negatives None. Absent and not voting.- None. Thereupon the Mayor declared Bill No 5, had passed and the Mayor in open session of the Council duly signed and Y E approved the Hill and the Clerk duly signed and attested the same which became Ordinance No 754. The Mayor directed the Clerk to make proper entry of the sane and to cause Ordinance No 754 to be, Published in the Caldwell News- Tribune the official newspaper of the City of Caldwell, Idaho. Thereupon Councilman Blomquist introduced Bill No 6 entitledt AN ORDINANCE GIVING NOTICE: TO ALL CITIZENS AND O NERS OF PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF CALDWLLL THAT AN APPLICATION HAS BEEN PRESENTED FOR THE VACATION OF CERTAIN EASEMENTS FOR A PUBLIC STREET GRANTaD THE CITY OF CALDWTLL, IDAHO IN BLOCK 38 OF WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, STELrNENBERG AND HANDS ADDITION TO CALDWEI,I., IDAHO, AND LOTS 19 AND 20 OF NEW HOME ADDITION TO CALD - ATLL, IDAHO PROVIDING FOR FILING 0 JECTICNS THERWO AND FOR FILING CLAIi7S FOR DAMAGES SUSTAINED THE-IEBY- PROVIDING FOR AS:c.IT.kINING SUCH DAZES 'OR THE %AYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY - �F CAI.D:',ELL; AND PROVIDING FOR THE PPPLICATICN OF THIS ORDINANCE. which was read for the first time and the Council proceeded to a consideration of Hill No b. The Mayor directed the Clerk to make proper entry of the same and to cause Ordinance No 7555 to be,' published in the Caldwell News- Tribune the official newspaper of the City of Caldwell, Idaho. Application for Punch Board License was read from the Palomina Bar, the fee accompanying the ap- I�plication. If Moved by Glaisyer, seconded by Burrell that this License be granted. Upon Roll C it appeared the motion was unanimously carried. Application for Beer License was read from Harry Varner, the fee accompanying the application. The Mayor appointed the following Committee to investigate this application and report back to the Councils Councilmen Glaisyer, Fenrich and Bettis. The proposed Griffith's Park Sub- division to the "ity of Caldwell was presented to the Mayor and Council for their approval. The Mayor appointed the following Committee to investigate this sub - divisions Councilmen Olsisysr,l Fenrich and Bettis. Mr. Lew Rycraft represent Ong the Caldwell BusCompany was present and requested permission to - increase bus fares. Moved by glaisyer, seconded by Burrell that this request be granted. The Regular Monthly [fleeting of the City Council met in the Council Rooms of the vity Hall, with i the Mayor Leo J. Mason, presiding. Upon Aoll Call the following Councilmen answered present: Wm Glaisyer, L. E. Burrell, John Myers, Dale Yenrich and J. W. bettia. Absent: Fran Bl.omquist. - The Mayor informed the Council this was the time set by notice for opening bids for the con- ` structton of Local Improvement District # 18. I The following bids were opened and read: J. Vear Van Noy, Ontario, Ore. L. A. Crew Co., Provo, Utah. C. B. Lauch ''o., Boise, Idaho. 9ft,.r discussing the bids it was moved by Glaisyer, seconded by Burrell that the low bid sub - ritted by C. B. Lauch Co., of Boise, Idaho be accepted. Upon Roll Call it appeared the motion was unanimously ca *Tied. Revised building plans for the Shorb Printing Co., were presented to the Ma,..or std Council for thei r app roval . Moved by Burrell seconded by Myers that a :uilding permit be issued to the Shorb Printing Co. Upon moll Call it appeared the motion was unanimously carried. The Mayor and �'ouncil discussed adjustments in wages of the City Employees. Thereupon the following Resolution was presented to the Mayor and Coonoil by Councilman Glaisyer, who moved the adoption thereof which motion was duly seconded by councilman Bettis. RESOLUTION. By Councilman Glaisyer. WHEREAS, it appears to be equitable and necessary under existing economic conditions that wages of the hour employees of the City of Caldwell should be adjusted by the Mayor and Council of the City of Cald- well; NOW, THE EFORE BE IT RESOLVED:
