The R.o;_ul.ar Monthly Meeeting of the City Council met in the Council Rooms of
the City Hall, with tha President of the Council, Pete Olesen pr-siding.
On Roll Call the following Councilmen answered present; J, R. Sloop, Pete
Clasen, Leo J. Mason, L. r. Burrell, 0. L. Thornock and T?, MCNeill. Absent: Mayor

113SOLUTION. -
By Councilman Thornock.
CLEVE GROOPAE, attorney at law of Caldwell, Idalo, appeared before the Mayor and
Council'on behalf of Grace E. Smythe and petitioned the Council in writing, for the can-
cellation of city water maintenance and sprinkling and road taxes on Lots 1 and 2 and Lots
13 to 24, Block 38, Dorman's Addition to the City, and the Mayor and Council having duly
considered the same, the following preamble and resolution was presented by Councilman
Thornock, who moved the adoption of the same, which motion was duly seconded by Councilman
Burrell.
"WHEREAS, there are assessments for irrigation water against the said property
for the,years 1942 to 1945, inclusive, in a total sum of $183.05, and there are assess-
ments against the said property for street sprinkling and maintenance from the year 1927
to the year 1944 on Lots 1 and 2, and for the year 1929 to the year 1944, with exception
of the.years 1937, 1938, 1939 and 1940, on Lots 13 to 24, inclusive, in said Block 38,
making A total of X161.76; now, therdfore
" BE IT RBSOLVED, that upon the payment to the Treasurer of the City of Caldwell
of one -bB if of the said several sums above mentioned by t'ae said Orace E. Smythe, the
Treasurer of tl:e City of Caldwell be, and he is hereby, aut_iorized and directed to cancel
the remainder of said taxes and assessments for irrigation and for ma'ntenance on streets,,:

Moved by McNeill, seconded by Burrell that this License be granted, to
period from August 6th, 1945 to December 319t, 1945, Motion carried,
A petition was presented to the Mayor and Council petitioning the enlargement
of the city water main on blest Canyon will, to insure adequate fire protection to prop
located there.
The Mayor referred this matter to the Fire Chief,
Thereupon Cm mcilman Sloop introduced. Bill No 7, entitled:

which was read for the first time and the Council proceeded to a consideration of Bill
No 7., It was moved by Sloop, seconded by Burrell that the rules requiring that the read-
ing of s Bill on three aeparate days be suspended and that Bill No 7, be read the second
time title by title and the third time in full, section by section and placed on its final
passage. The Mayer directed the Clerk to call the roll on the above motion with the follow
ing result: Those voting in the affirmative were: Sloop, Olesen, Mason, Burrell and Thorno
Negative: None. Absent and not voting: "one. The Mayor declared the motion had passed
by the necessary three - fourths majority and directed the Clerk to read Bill ITo 7, the
second time by title and the third time in full section by section. The Clerk read the
Bill as directed. The question being "Shall Bill No 7 pass? The Mayor directed the Clerk
to coil the roll on the above question which resulted as follows: Those voting in the
affirmative were: Sloop, Olesen, V. son, Burrell and Tl ornock. Negative: None. Absent
and hot voting: None.
Thereupon the Mayor declared Bill No 7 had passed and the Mayor in open session
of the Council duly signed andapproved the Bill, and the Clerk duly signed and attested
the same which became Ordinance No 643, The Mayor directed the Clerk to make proper entry
of the same end to cause Ordinance No 643, to be published in the Caldwell News - Tribune
the official newspaper of the Citp of Caldwell, Idaho.
The ??nyor appointed HAROLD WHITLW, D 'RgfC SFRORANT (NIGHT) on the POLICE FORCE.
Moved by Sloop, seconded by Meson that this appointment be confirmed.
Mr. S. F. Rose appeared and stated that he wished to purchase thesfollowdn
lots owned by the City: Lots 17 to 21 inclusive In Block 29, Original Townsite.
The President of the Council informed Mr. Rose that this property would have to
be advertised for public sale.
Moved by Thornock, seconded by McNeill that the City should not accept less than
$100.00 bid and in the event such initial bid is made then the City Clerk shell advertise
a public sale on said lots to highest bidder such notice to be published once each week
for two succesive weeks in the Caldwell News- Tribune the official newspaper of the City
of Cnldvlell, Idaho,

Wyoming Avenue between Idaho Street and Pine Sweet in the City of Caldwell. Ne offered to
deliver to the City of Caldwell a Deed of conveyance executed by himself and his wife cover
the following described portion of the tract of land formerly platted as Wayne's Re -sub-
di-Lision of Lots 1, 2, and 3 in Rlock 39 of Washington Feights, Steunenberg and hands Ad-
dition to Caldwell, Idaho, as shown on the official Plat of said re- subdivision on file and
and on record in the office of the recorder of Canyon County, Idaho, to -wit:
Beginning at the Southwest corner of said Block formerly platted as
Block 39 of 'lashington iTeights Steunenberz and Hands Addition, and
running thence Fast along the South line of said Block, a distance
of 320.80 feet; running thence North 25 feet; running thence vilest rarellel

with the South line of said Block to the point of intersection
with the Tiortb esterly line of said Block, that being the
Southeasterly boundary line of 16th Avenue in Caldwell, Idaho;
running thence Southwesterly along said Northwesterly line of

R. Sloop, that;
(a) The City of Caldwell accept the conveyance of the above described property
for the purpose of mating srid Idaho Street a full 50 feet in width;
(b) That the name of said Idaho street be changed and hereafter be officially
designated as Logan Street;
(c) That as soon as equipment, labor and material are available, said Logan
Street (formerly Idaho Street between Washington Avenue and 19yoming Avenue) and Wyoming
Avenue between Logan Street and Pine Street, be opened and later filled, graded and
improved.

we, the undersigned, Mayor and members of the City
Council of the City of Caldwell, h aho, do each hereby acknowledge
notice of a special meeting of said City Council to be held at the
Council Chambers in the City Hall in the City of Caldwell, Idaho,
at the hour of 8;00 o'clock P. M., on the 14th day of August 1945,
for the transaction of all business in connection with the follow-
ing object: an agreement to be entered into between the City of
Caldwell and the State of Idaho covering acquisition of rig t of hI
way, grading, draining and surfacing, 0.389 miles of Franklin Lane
Highway within the limits of the City of Caldwell designated as
Federal Aid Project No 241 B (2), which object has been submitted
to each of the * ndersigned in writing.
