The Regular Monthly Meeting of the City Council met in the Council Room of the
n
City Hall, with the Mayor, Emery L. Vassar, presiding,
On Roll Call, the following Councilmen answered present: Edgar L. Oakes, W. S.
Boynton, C. E. Bales, G. W. Montgomery, W.R. Hollingsworth and G. M. Fenrich. Absent:
None.
In the absence of City Clerk, 0. E. Fritts the Mayor appointed Deputy Clerk, H.
E. Parmenter to act as Clerk pro ten.

There being several persons in waiting the Mayor asked them to state their
business before the Council proceeded with its regular business.
Mr. Frank Dahlstrom of the firm of Dahlstrom & Fenton of Boise explained a plan
for refunding some of the General Obligation. Bonds, for a lower percent of interest.
The Mayor and Council decided to take this matter under advisement and conferr
with Mr. Dahlstrom at a later date.
Mr. R. E. Wagner, the city garbage collector asked that the dogs be taken care
of as they were upsetting cans and spilling garbage over the alleys.
Dr. F. T. Harris reported on the dairy inspection and stated that he had re-
ceived his container to ship samples of milk to the Btate Laboratories for analysis and
also asked the Dairy Ordinance be amended. Mayor Vassar said he would appoint a committee
to work in conjunction with Mr. Harris.
Mr. A. E. Sutton and a delegation from the Merchants Association asked if there
had been anything done as to the peddlers and distribution of hand bills. The mayor
stated that the Council would go into this matter and that he would appoint a committee
to work with a committee from the Merchants Association.
Mr. Maxey asked that the parties having outside toilets be notified to connect
up with the sewer. Mayor Vassar instructed the City Clerk to notify the parties con -
cerne4-
A petition si „ned by several people asking for the reduction of dog license was
read 4nd left on the table.
Application for Beer License for Murphy & Livesay was presented and Tead and was
moved.by Councilman, Bales and seconded by Councilman, Montgomery that License be granted.
Motion carried.
Thereupon, the:'.City Attbgney introduced Bill No. 2, entitled.
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDI14G FOR TID ASSESSMENT AND LEVY OF A TAX FOR
GENERAL REVENUE PURPOSES FOR PAYING THE MME14T EXPENSES OF THE CITY
OF CALDnLL, IDAHO, FOR THE TISCAL Y=AR BEGINNING THE 21HST DAY OF
MAY, 1934.
Which was read for the first time, slid the Council proceeded to a consideration
of Bill No. 2. It was moved by Montgomery, seconded by Hollingsworth that the rules re-
quiring that the reading of a Bill on three separate days be suspended and that Bill No.
2 be read the second time by title and the third time in full, section by section and
plaeed,on its final passage. The Mayor directed the Clerk Co Call the roll on the motion
J! j with the following results: Those voting in the affirmative were:0akes, Bales, 967,hton

Hollingsworth, Montgomery, and genrich. Those voting in the negative: None. Absent
and not voting: None. The Mayor declared the motion had passed by the necessary three_
fourths majority and directed the Clerk to read the Bill No. 2, the second time by title

and the third time in full, section by section. The Clerk read the bill as directed.
The question then being "Shall Bill No. 2. pass? ". The Mayor directed the Clerk to call
the roll on the above question, which resulted as follows: Those voting in the af-
firmative were; Oakes, Bales, Boynton, Hollingsworth, Montgomery and Fenrich. Those oppose
[lone. .absent and not voting, None. Thereupon, the Mayor declared Bill No. 2 had passed,
and the Mayor in open session of the Council duly signed and approved the Bill, and the C
duly signed and attested the same which became Ordinance No. 514. The Mayor directed the
Clerk to make proper entry of the same and to cruse Ordinance No, 514 to be published in 1
Caldwell -News Tribune, the official newspaper of the City of Caldwell, Idaho.
The above Ordinance provides for a Tax Levy as follows:
For the General Fund: 11?- mills on every dollar of assessed valuation.
'Por the Library Fund: .1& mills on every dollar of assessed valuation.
For Emergency: 1 mill on every dollar of assessed valuation.
For Cemetery Main-
tenance: 1 mill on every dollar of assessed valuation.
For Bonds & Interest
Funds: 7 3/4 mills on very dollar of assessed valuation.
For Street Lighting
Fund: 31 mills on very dollar of eavessed valuation.
For Local Improve-
ment Guaranty Fund
i 1 1 mill on every dollar of assessed valuation.
Municipal Band: } mills on every dollar of assessed valuation.
The Levy on certain lands heretofore excluded from the City limits
but which land is still liable for Bonds issued prior to January 1,
1933, together with all interest on said Bonds-------- - - - - -7 Mills,
The Levy on certain other lands heretofore excluded from the City
limits, but which lands are still liable for Bonds issued prior to
.Tannery 1, 1933, together with all interest on said Bonds -- 7 3/4 Mills.
The Bills for July were read and on motion made by Montgomery and seconded by
Boynton that these bills be allowd and Warrants be ordered drawn for the various amounts
all of which had been approved by the Chairman of the Finance Committee. Motion carried.

on Peddlers Ordinance, Montgomery and Boynton on Dairy Committee and Hollingsworth and Ball
on Bill
Distribution Committee.
No further business appearing before the Council it
was moved by Oakes, seconded
by Beres
that Council adjourn, Motion carried.
