Council met in regular session with Mayor MoOonnel presiding, and Councilmen
_ uIOMMS, GORDON, BOLLMAN, JOHNS, LEIGHTY AND SANDMHYER, PRESENT. ABSENT: ROBE.
H. A. Griffiths appeared before the Co4noil in the interest of property ownere
and residents in regard to removing the sale yards from their present locations. No
action was taken.
Mimi #®s of previous meetings were read and approved.
RESOLUTION NO. 7, by Bandmeyer , was presented as follows:
"WHEREAS, The City of deldweli Heeded to Montie B. Gwinn and Henry D. Blatohley,
Lots Seventy -nine (79) and Eighty (80), Block Fifty -four (54) of the Canyon Hill Cemetery

(otherwise known as the Caldwell Cemetery), as is more Rally shown by that certain deed
dated Fvbruary 1pt, 1929, and
"WHEREAS, Said deed is made to said grantees jointly conveying to said grantees
an undivided interest in said lots for the purpose of interment, and
"WHEREAS, It is their desire to Use said Lots Seventy -nine (79) and Eighty (80)
and the alley interveening between said lots as one unit and desire to place moncmante
_ on said unit which will over -lap upon said alley, and
"WHEREAS, Said alley Is appurtenant to and for the use and benefit of said
Lots Seventy-nine (79) and Eighty (80) and is not necessary to the use or benefit of any
Other lots in said cemetery;
"POW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED By the Mayor and City Council of the City of
Caldwell. Idaho, as follows, to -wit:
"Section I That the said Montie B. Gwinn and Henry D. Blatohley, their heirs,
exaoutpra and administrators be, and they hereby are, granted permission to Use the alley
intervening between said Lots Seventy -nine (79) and Eighty(80) for the purpose of plaoiUg
thereon,tombetonse or other suitable and proper improvements and landscaping; it being
further provided that the privilege herein granted is given under the conditions and
shall remain effective only as long as the ownership of sold Lots Seventy- nine.(79) and
Eighty (80) shall continue in Joint ownership of said grantees and that if said lots
hereafter come under separate ownership and if hereby said alley shall become necessary
for the use and ocoupgtion of said lots, said dity of Caldwell reserves the right to re-
quire said tombstones and other improvements and landscaping to be removed from said
alley.'
Motion was made by Sandmeyer, seconded by Bollmon, that Revolution No..q� peas.
The Mayon directed the Olerk to call the roll with the following result: e,

I. M. McCarthy, chairman of a committee from the dommeroial Club appeared be-
fore the Mayor and Council in the interest of forming a district for street lighting in
the business district, and urged that some definite action be taken. Several other
citizens and property owners being present and spoke in favor ofmodern street lighting.
It was voted on motion of Sandmeyer, seconded by Dickens, that the dity Attor-
ney be instructed to draw a resolution of intentions to form a Street Lighting District.
It was toted on motion of Bollman, seconded by Leighty, that the Mayor appoint
a committee of three to meet with the dity Attorney to decide on the boundry of said.
Street Lighting District. The Mayor appointed dounoilmen Leighty, Bollman and-Soadmeyer
Said committee to also meet with I. M. darthy's committee for the purpose.

Golden Gate Addition was presented.
It Was voted on motion of hickens, seconded by $andmeyer, that August 16, 1929,
8:00, P. M. in the Hall be the time and place for hearing protests against the pro-
posed construction of service station.
RESOLUTION N0. 8, BY GORDON, was presented as follows;
" RESOLUTION GRANTING A PSHKIT FOR THE ERECTION AND OONSTRUOTION OF A WOODEN
WAREHOUSE AND PACKING HOUSE WITHIN THE FIRE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF CALDWELL, ON LOTS TEN
(10), ELEVEN (11), AND TWELVE (12), IN BLOCK 88 OF THE ORIGINAL TOWNSITE".
"WHEREAS, It appears to be for the beet interest, of the dity of Caldwell, Idshc
and for the parties concerned, that a permit be granted to the GROWERS WAREHOUSE COMPANY,
for the erection of a warehouse and packing house within the fire limits of the City of
Caldwell;
"NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED By the Mayor and Souncil of the dity of Caldwell
Idaho:
"election 1. That persuant to Ordinance No. 470 of the mity of Caldwell, that p
permit is hereby given and granted to Growers Warehouse Company, to ereot and construct
a, wooden warehouse and packing house within the fire limits of the Oita of Caldwell, to -
on the SouthwasterX-p Sixty (60) feet of Lots Ten (10), Eleven (11) and Twelve (12), in
Block 88 of the Original Town, now Oity of Caldwell, Idaho, according to the revised map
thereof on file and of record in the office of the County Recorder of Canyon County, - -Idaho
said building to be 50 a 75 feet, including a 10 foot platform on the Northeasterly side
of,d building. This permit is granted under the express condition that the roof and
,vides of said building shall be covered with incombustible. material. and that said build-
ing shall in all other respects conform to the requirements of said Ordinance No. 470
and ell other ordinances of the City of Caldwell, relative to the erection, construction
and maintenance of such buildings.
"Section 2. This permit is granted persuent to said Ordinance No. 470 for the
erection, construction and maintenance of said buildings herein mentioned, as a temporary
structure, and this permit is granted to expire five {5) years from the date hereof and
the same is granted on condition that the grantees herein, or the owners of said building
_shall on or before the expiration of this permit, remove said building from within the fiz
limits of the city or shall re- construct said building to conform with the requirements
of the Ordinances of the City of Caldwell, governing the construction of buildings within
the fire limits; and this permission is hereby granted with the express underst4nding
that if said building is not removed or re -hilt within the period of this permit, con-
forming to the requirements for the erection of buildings, that the City of daldwell,
may declare said building a nuisance and remove the game at the expense of the owners of
said building and of the premises upon which the same is located.
. "Section Z. Said building shall be constructed and maintained at all times
subject to the approval of the City Engineer and Building Inspector of the City of Caldwe]
Motion was made by Bollman, seconded by $ohns;i,bz a that Resolution No. 8
be adopted. The mayor directed the dler1c to call the roll with the following result.

MAYAS AND ABSENT: NONE. Whereupon the mayor declared the motion earried and Resolution
No. 8 adopted. The Mayor and dlsrk apWbved and signed same in open session of the
Council.

RESOLUTION NO. 9, BY LEIGHTY, was presented as follows:
" A RESOLUTION CLOSING THE ENDS OF FIRST AND SECOND AVENOE3'OF THE CITY OF
CALDWELL, IDAHO, 'WHERE THE SAME INTERSECT A7EN AVENUI� IN SAID CITY, AND DIRECTING THE
CITY ENGINEER TO ERECT OBSTRUCTIONS ACROSS SAID INTERSECTIONS ".
"WHEREAS, It apperas to the Mayor and dounoil of the tlity of dalflwell, Idaho,
with
that where first and deoond Avenues of said i ity interseot/Aven Avenue, said streets are
not traveled or improved, and whereas,
"The Oregon Short Line Railroad has a franchise for tracks and has tracks con-
structed along the southerly aide of said Avon Avenue, and Whereas,
"The GitY of Caldwell is beginning the construction of curbs and gutters along
said Avon Avenue, and Whereas,
"It Would be to the best interest of the City and of the public that said ourbs
be constructed so roes the said intersections of said Rivet and Ssoond Avenues,
"NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, By the Mayor and da uncil Of the City of Cold-
well, Idaho;
"Section I. That the ends of First and Second Avenues of the City of 0aldwell,
Idaho, be and the same are declared o1beed, where the game intersectawith Avon Avenue,
"8e0tioi; 2. That the dity Engineer shall cause to have erected at said Inter-
sections anitablo'barrioades, with notions painted on both sides thereat, with the words
'CLOSED BY THE CITY' IN NOT LESS than ten inch letters, and shall further cause said
barricades to be painted with alternote:white and bleak bands ".
Motion W50 mode by Sandmeyer, seconded by Gordon, that Resolution No. 9 be
adopted. The Mayor directed the Clerk to cell the roil, on the question as stated with
the fallowing result:
AYES: BOLLUU, DICKERS, GORDON, JOHNS, MIGHTY AND SANDMEYER.
HAYES AND A38ENTV NONE. Thereupon the Mayor declared the motion carried and Resolution

It was voted on motion of Leighty, seconded by Bollman, that the bills as ap-

Grand total of all warrants drawn amounts to $14,165.99.
A petition of G. M. Ernst to construct public weighing scales on Lot 1, Block
88, Original Townsite in the middle of the parking on Ninth Street between Albany itreet
and the Railroad Traok. Also placing coal bankers on the alley if neseeeary En said
lot. The petition was considered at some length but no faction taken.
A petition was presented signed by property owners abutting. on Everett $treat
and orose streets between Dearborn Street and Everett, Street from Twelfth /avenue and
Twentieth Avenue, to be included in the Blain Street improvement district which is being
considered .
It was Voted on motion of Sandmeyer, seconded by Bollman, that the slid petitio:
be accepted.
It was voted on motion of johns, Seconded by Leighty, that Go:.noil adjourn to
August 16, 1929, at 8 :00, P. M.

AouSoil met in regular asesion persuent to adjournment of August 5, 1929, with
Mayor Modonnel presiding and Councilmen BOLLMAN, DICKENS, GORDON, JOHN$, LEIGHTY AIM
SANIM$YER, PRESENT. ABSENT: NONE.
This being the date met for opening bids on Local Improvement District No.
7 for Oiling. The dlerk opened the bid of Morrison- Ebudeon Go., Boise, Idaho, which was
the only bid rdoeived.
Morrison- Knadeon Co., bid on 60,246 sq. yards at 19�, totaling $11,446.74.
The Council took said bid under consideration at some length, and on motion of
Bollman, seconded b8 Dbokens, that the bid of Morrison- Mmason Co.. Boise, Idaho, be €:ne-
cepted. The Mayor'directed the 61erk to call the roll on the question as stated with
the following resu4:
AYES: BOLLMAN, DICKENS, GORDON, JOHNS, LEIGHTY AND SA MKMR.
1AYE3 AND ABSENT: NONE. The Mayor declared the motion carried, and the bid of Morrison.
Knudson CO. accepted.
The dlerk presented the application of 0. W. Emmone to construct a Service
station outside the fire limits, on Block 60, Golden Gate Addition to Caldwell, Idaho,
together with the publisher's Affidavit of Publication of notice in the Caldwell News -
Tribune. There being no protests against the creation of said Service Station, the
