COUNCIL CHAMBERS,
July 28,:1941,
7 :30 P.M.
The Council 'met on call of the Mayor, with the ?Mayor H. McCluskey, presiding.
On Roll Call the following Councilmen 6nswared present: Thurlow Bryant, Fred E.
n,.Floyd Blunt, E. E. Fresher and'C. 0, McDannel. Absent: Wilbur Dakan.
The Mayor informed the Council the meeting was called to meet with a Committee
the Chamber of Commerce regarding a site for a dehydrating plant.
Mr. Dakan entered and was marked present.
After a full dicussion of this matter the Mayor appointed the following Committee:
ilmen Bryant, Frasher and Newman, to meet with the Committee from the Chamber of Con-
and investigate a site for this plant.
There being no further business to come before the Council, it was moved by Blunt
led by Newman that Council adjburn. Motion carried.

8:00 P.M.
The Regular Monthly Meeting of the City Council met in the Council Room of the
City Hall, with the Mayor, H.-P. McCluskey, presiding.
On Roll Call the fallowing Councilmen answered present: Thurlow Bryant, Fred
E. Newman, Floyd Blunt, E.E.Frasher, Wilbur Dakan and C. 0. McDannel.
The Minutes of July 7th, 21st., and 28th., were read andapproved as read.
Mr. Goo Crookham appeared and requested that the property at the corner of Kim-
ball and Everett, be reclassified in the Zoning Ordinance as business property. The Mayor
stated that the request would be investigated.
Mr. Bovey appeared and submitted a report,as Milk Inspector,and discussed with
the Mayor and Council the work of regulating dairies under the present Milk Ordinance, ad-
vised what had been done and what he wished to accomplish.
The matter of the indebtedness due for meter from Seamount & Reiber on the propert
at 2100•Indiann Street in the sum of $80.00, was presented to the Council ;and the Mayor
being advised that Seamount & Reiber had a claim against the City for damages due this pro-
perty for reason of leakage of irtlgation water and that the claim exceeds the ambunt of
the cost of the meter and that Seamount & Reiber would cancel their claim for damages if
the Mayor and Council would cancel their claim for meter.
It was moved by Bryant, seconded by Frasher that the proposition of Seamount &
Reiber be accepted and that the meter charge for the property at 2100 Indiana St., be
cancelled in full settlement of s„id claim for damages against the City. Motion carried.
The Bills for July were read and on motion by Bryant, seconded by Dakan that
these Bills be allowed and Warrants be ordered drawn for the various amounts all of which
;had been approved by the Chairman of the Finance Committee. Motion carried.

Councilman Bryant made a comprehensive report on the Airport situation and the
possibilities of improving the Airport with federal funds and ,also, the matter of avail-
able federal and state funds which had heretofore been alloted to the City for said purpose
'stated that.he had interviewed Mr. Bennett and oth=.rs and had been advised that the funds
so alloted had become exhausted.bp payment of c ertain items of improvement and otherwise,
and that no funds were available at this time. He also stated that Mr.Bennett bad requeste

that the City submit an Airport Project for the conslder'ation of the proper officials.
Councilman ?rasher explained to the Council the difficulty in obtaining skilled
labor for road work at the prevailing rate for workers agreed upon bp' the Council to -wit:
45g per hour, stating that he had a number of skilled laborers to -wit: Hugh Brock, N.W.
ones, James Evans and Everett Evans who were requesting pay for such work at the rate of
50d per hour.
It was voted upon motion by Fr&hser, seconded by Blunt to pay the above named

Affidavits of Publication were read by the City Clerk,
Applications for Beer License were read from Saratoga Club and Safeway, the fee
accompanying 91aeh application.
Moved by Bryant, seconded by Blunt that these licenses be granted. Motion
carried.
There being no further business to come L efore the Council it was moved by Fras
seconded by Bryant that Council adjourn. Motion carried.

The Minutes of August 4th., were read and approved as read.
The Yayor informed the Council that Y..r. Soule had tendered his resiEnation as
Milk Inspector.
Moved by Dakan, seconded by Bryant that the Council accept Par. Bovie's resignatio
and that Mr. Powell be appointed Milk Inspector. Motion carried.
Moved by Bryant, seconded by 110 that street lights be installed st the
intersectloon of Derry and Kimsey Streets and at 11th and Elgin Street. Motion cprrled.
