Thereupon Councilman Mumford, introduced Bill No. 3, Proposed Ordinance Number 553, entitled; AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE ASSESSMENT AND LEVY OF A TAX FOR GENERAL REVENUE PURPOSES FOR PAYING THE CURRENT EXPENSES OF THE CITY OF CALDWELL, CANYON COUNTY, IDAHO,POR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING THE FIRST DAY OF MAY, 1938. which was read for the first time and the Council proceeded to a consideration of Bill No. 3. It was moved by Fenrich, seconded by Babcock that the rules requiring that the reading of a B111 on three separate days be suspended and that Bill No 3, be reAd the second time by title and the third time in full, section by section and placed on its final passage. The Mayor directed the Clerk too all the roll on the motion with the following result: Those voting in the affirmative were: Oakes, Mumford, Boynton, Babcock, Fenrich and Hinds. Negative: None. Absent and not voting: None. The Mayor declared the motion had passed by the necessary three - fourths majority and directed the Clerk to read Bill N 3, the second time by title and third time in full, section by section, The Clerk read the Bill as directed, The Question then being "Shall Bill No. 3, pass? The Mayor directed the Clej to call the roil on the above question which resulted as follows: Those voting in the affirmative were: Oakes, Mumford, Boynton, Babcock, Fenrich and Hinds. Neg None, Absent and not voting: None, Thereupon the Mayor declared Bill No. 3, had passed, and the Mayor in open session of the council duly signed and approved the Bill, and the Clerk duly signed and attested the same which became Ordinance No. 553. The Mayor directed the Clark -to make ptoper entry of the same and to cause Ordinance No 553, to be published in the Caldwell -News Tribune, the official newspaper Of the City of Caldwell, Idaho, The City Clerk read a letter fmvm Chas. Laurenson, Secretary of the Homesteaders Jubilee Night Rodeo, making application for a permit to sponsor the Monte Young Shows during the week beginning August 16 and ending August 20, and also asking that the license fee be cancelled. Moved by Hinds, seconded by Fenrich that this penmit,be granted and the license fee cancelled, Motioncarried. There being no further business to come before the Council it Was moved by Bab - Cock,s econded by Fenrich, that Council adjourn. Motion carried. On Roll Call the following Councilmen answered present: F. D. Mumford, W. S. Boynton, W. E. Babcock, and Norvil T. Hinds, Absent: Edgar L. Oakes and G. M. Fenrich, I� I i^i The Mayor informed the Council that the meeting was called to take up an applica- I�E tion for Beer License from the Palm Cafe. The Clerk read an application for Beer License from the Palm Cafe, the fee ac- compan7ing the application. Moved by Rinds, seconded by Fenrich that this License be granted; Motion carried No further business appearing, it was moved by Babcock, seconded by Boynton that Council adjourn. Motion carried. Rollingswrth presiding, On Roll Call the following Councilmen answered present: F. U. Mumford, B. S. 3oynton, W, Babcock and G. M. Fenrich; Absent: Edg, L. Oakes and Norvil T. Rinds, Thereupon Mr. l+V'alter Iriffith appeared before the Mayor and Council and reeuestdd permission to repair or cause to be repaired his building,recently damaged by fire, be- tween 9th., and 10th., on Arthur Street and extending across'Indian Creek and submitted a statement ineariting as to the nature of the repairs he proposed to have done, to -wit: New 2 inch native plank floor over the entire floor area, same to be laid over the present old floor. Patching and repairing the present floor so that the now floor can be laid over it. Replace 20 sheets of dorrugated iron roofing on the roof. Replace all the iron on the rear of the building from the top of the doors to the roof line, but will utilize all of the sheets that are not too badly rusted to ::e as good as the rest of the covering. Paint the entire f wont surface of the main building with two coats of lead and oil paint colored to suit the tenant and you. Tear out the whole of the old office partitions. Build a new concrete ramp approach to the large front door which opens onto Arthur Street. Grade up and fill and gravel the approach to the reeri door so that the cars can be driven into the building over a morB uniform approach. Raise the E at side of the building up to a more level position and build up a foundation of lave rock and Rravel in the place where the concrete has washed out. Thereupon after due consideration the following Resolution was presented to the Mayor and Council by Councilman Babcock who moved the adoption thereof which motion was duly seconded by Councilman Boynton. R By Babcock, BE IT RESOLVED that the above application be and the same is hereby referred to the City Attorney and the Building Inspector and that said Building Irnspeet- or be and he is hereby authorized and directed (if in his judgment the proposed repairs shall not increase the fire hazard in the City of Caldwell) to issue a proper permit for the repair of said building in accordance with the above pro- position and request submitted. A Yea and Nay vote was had thereon with the following result; Yea : F. D. Mum - ford, W. S. Boynton, W. E. Babcock and G. M. Fenrich, Nay:- None. Absent and not voting: 6•
