Councilman Blomquist reported there was approximately ten acres of land in the North -east corner
of the Airport that might be available _cr industrial sites.
The Cit Engineer was instructed to list land available for industrial purposes, also, to make
a survey of the North -east corner of the Airport. ,
The City Attorney was instructed to check and report if this would interfer with the C. A. A.
Thereupon it was moved by Blomquist, seconded by Finley the City of Caldvell cooperate :ath the
Chamber of Commerce and make available to the Chamber of Commerce approximately ten acreas of land lying �I
in the North -east corner of the Airport for industrial developments
Upon Roll Call it appeared the motion was unanimously carried.
Councilman Finley reported Caldwell tire dealers would give the City on purchase of tires code
price less 10 %. Councilman x'inley roc, mended rather than submit bids, department heads be authorized
to purchase what ever level tires were needed and to distribute the tire purchases among Caldwell dealers
The City Attorney was instructed to check if this would conflict with the statutes.
Councilman Blomquist reported trucks speeding on Colorado. a i l ,
Councilman Finley reported trees and shubbery in parking were causing a traffic hazard. This
was referred to the Police Department.
There being no further business to come before the Council it as moved by Councilman Vassar,
seconded by Councilman Eldredge that Council adjourn. Motion carried. �f

h'e, the undersigned Mayor and Members of the City Council c£ the City of Caldwell, Idaho, do each
hereby acknowledge notice of a special meeting of the said City Council to be held at the Council Chambers,'
in the City Hall in the City of Caldwell, Idaho, at the hour of 8:00 o'clock P. M. on the 22nd day of July,
1957, for the transaction of all business in connection with the following object: Receiving and opening
bids for curb and gutter at the City park and sidewalk in front of the Office Building, which object was
presented to each of the undersigned in writing.

tpon Roll Call the following Councilmen answered present: E. L. Vassar, Max T.uby, Leland Finley.
Absent: Fran Blomquist, Emile Shorts, L. P. Eldredge.
A quorum was not present.
Moved by Vassar, seconded by Finley that Council recess until called by the Mayor.
All Councilmen present voted in favor of the motion.
The Mayor announced the meeting would be turned over for discussion. j
Joe Hunt, Vector Control Specialist, U.S.P.H.S., assigned to Idaho, Bob Olson, Public Health
Public Health Specialist and C. J. Hammond, Sr. Sanitarian, State Board of Health were present and discussed
11 garbage disposal.

Mr. Hunt recor..nended compulsory garbage pick -up. The City Attorney stated the City would have to
I �•lease to an operator for the balance of this year as the 1957 -1958 Budget did not provide for City operated

garbage pick -up. Councilman Vassar stated he was reluctant to make garbage pick -up compulsory. �!

Mayor Simmerman thanked the gentlemen for attending the meeting and extended an invitation to meet
with the Council when all members could be present. � I

The Regular Monthly Meeting of the City Council met in the Council Rooms of the City Hall, with

Upon Roll Call the following Councilmen answered present: E. L. Vassar, Max Luby, Emile Shorb,

and Leland 'Finley. Absent: Fran Blomquist and L. P. Eldredge.
This being the time set by notice for receiving and opening bids for repair of curb and gutter �
at Memorial Park and the constriction of sidewalk in .front of the Office Building. ,
Two bias were received and read as follows,

Moved by Finley, seconded by Vassar the City Engineer negotiate with the bidders for repair work
on Palo Alto Drive.
Upon Roll Call it appeared the motion was unanimously carried.
The bills for July were read and on a motion by Vassar, seconded by Shorb, these bills be
allowed and warrants ordered drawn for the various amounts, all of which have been approved by the
Finance Committee.
