Pursuant to adjourment of the adjourned meeting of Jul7'6th., 1937, the Council met in the Council Rooms with the Mayor, W. R. Hollingsworth presiding. On Roll Call "the following Councilmen answered present; Edgar L. Oakes, F. D, Mumford, W. S. Boynton, W. E. Babcock, and 0. M. Fenrich, Absent; Norvil T. Hinds. Mr. C. D. Rush appeared before the Council and asked to have the penalty and in- terest on special improvement taxes cancelled on Block 129, Lots 18 to 20 of Strahorn Addition, in the amount of $29.21. This matter was referred to the City Atttorney. The Mayor appointed Councilmen Oakes and Boynton to attend to the labeling of the police cars. Whereupon after due consideration the following preamble and resolution was pre- sented by Councilman Mumford who moved its adoption which motion was seconded by Council- man_ Fenrich. Resolution By Miunford. WHEREAS, it appears to the City of Caldwell for its various departments will need at least 12,000 cubic yards of crushed gravel and, WHEREAS, tLe City has its own gravel pit but does not have the necessary machin and_couipment for crushing gravel and that it is more economical to have the gravel crush under contract t'•an to provide and maintain the necessary machinery and equipment by the City of Caldwell and, WHEREAS; Quinn- Robins, Company Inc., has presented a proposition and offer to crush such gravel at the a xpense to the city of 6Qa per cubic yard and 7� per cubic yard addition thereto in placing the material in stock piles where the City furnishes the noes plank and 8� per cubic yard where they furnish the necessary plank and 7¢ per goad mile ?S hauling or transporting the same to the place of use if required by the City and that if more than 20 cubic yards of gravel should be taken from the pits at this same setting that the crushing charge shall be 57% per cubic yard instead of 62J¢ per cubic yard and, I� Nos. A yea and nay vote was had thereon with the following result; Yea; Oakes, MumPord, Fenrich, Boynton and Babcock. Nay: Prone; A bsent and not voting; Hinds. Thereupon the Mayor declared the motion carried and the resolution duly adopted. Moved by Boynton, seconded by Babcock that Council adjourn to meet July 26th., 1937 at 8:00 P. M. The City Council met pursuant to a published notice for the purpose of consider - protests to the proposed Financial Budget of the City for the year 1937 -38, with the r, W. R. Hollingsworth presiding. On Roll Call the following Councilmen answered present: F. D, Mumford, 14, S. ton, W, E. Babcock, G. M. Fenrich and Norvil T. Hinds. Absent: Edgar L. Oakes. This being the dote set for hearing protests against the proposed estimate of hditures of the City of Caldwell for the fiscal year beginning the first day of May The said estimate and tax levy being in excess of 10 mills for general purposes.
