Council met in regular session persuant to adjournment July 18, 1927, 8:00 P.
M. with Mayor Dunlap presiding and the following Councilmen present; Davis, Dutton,
Jackson, MoConnel and Mumford. Absent; Hoffman.
This being the date set for a public hearing on the proposed estimate of
expenditures of the City of Caldwell for the fiscal year beginning the first Tuesday
in May, 1927 and ending the first Tuesday in Play, 1928. There was a number of citizens
present and all spoke in favor of the proposed estimate to be raised by a tax levy, and
that they were in accord with the Mayor and Council in taking care of the necessary
expenses and improvements.
BILL NO. 7 BY MUMFORD, ENTITLED " AN ORDINANCE TERMED THE ANYUAE APPROPRIATION
BILL APPROPRIATIONG MONEY IN SUCH SUM AND SIMIS AS ARE DEEMED NECESSARY TO DEFRLY ALL
PROPER EMBSES AND LIABILITIES OF THE CITY OF CALDWELL, IDAHO, NOT OTHERWISE PROVIDED
FOR, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING THE FIRST TUESDAY IN MAY, 1927, PURSUANT TO THE PRO—
VISIONS OF SECTION 3940, IDAHO COMPILED STATUTES, AS ALIENDED BY CHAPTER 157, LAWS OF
1923 OF TIM STATE OF IDAHO, ANA) AS AMENDED BY CHAPTER 158, LAWS OF 1927 OF THE STATE
OF IDAHO; AND SECTION 4053, IDAHO COMPILED STATUTES, AS AMENDED BY CHAPTER 129, LAWS
OF 1921 OF THE STATE OF IDAHO ", was read the first time in full.
A motion was mad by Davis, seconded by Jackson, that the rules be suspended
requiring a bill to be read on three separate days, and Bill No. 7 was read second
time by title, third time in full section by section and place on its final passage.
The Mayor caused the Clerk to call the roll on the aforesaid question with the following
result:
AYES: DAVIS, DUTTON, JACKSON, MCCONITEL AND MUMFORD.
NAYES: NONE.
ABSENT: HOFFMAN. The Mayor declared the motion had carried by the necessary 3/4
majority, and caused the Clerk to read Bill No. 7 to be read second time by title,
third time in full section by section sod placed on its final passage, and on the
question, as put by the Mayor, SHALL BILL NO 7 PASS? The Mayor caused the Clerk to
call the roll with the following result:
AYES: DAVIS, DUTTON, JACKSON, MO CONNEL AND LMIFORD.
NAYES: NONE.
ABSENT: HOFFMAN. Whereupon the Mayor declared that Bill No. 7 passed and now become
Ordinance No. 441, duely signed and approved same in open session of the gouncil, and
directed the Clerk to make proper entry, and cause the same to be published in the
Caldwell News the official newspaper of the City of Caldwell.
A letter form J. R. Brown, Manager, Daityman's Co —op. Creamery of Boise Valley
was read, asking that Arthur to Cleveland on 6th Street be put into an improvement
didtrict. The matter was referred to the Improvement Committee to investigat and re—
port back to the Council.
A communication from C. Ben Rose, Mayor of Pocatello, was read, asking that
this City join with them in a friendly suit to ascertain just what the legislators
intentions were when they passed the bill providing for the City Treasurers of the
various municipalities to collect Special Improvement Taxes. The Clerk was instructed
to advise the Llayor of Pocatello, Idaho, that the Mayor and Council would join with
them in such suit.
It was voted on motion of Mumford, seconded by Magonnel, that the bill of
W. H. Robinson for an Auto Starter for a Pump, in the sum of 0158.00 be allowed, and
warrant on the Irrigation Fund be drawn for the amount.
It was voted on motion of Dutton, seconded by Mumford, that the Park Committee
be instructed to have a dressing room built for the boys end girls at the Wading Pool.

It was voted on motion of Jackson, seconded by 31umford, that Council adjourn
to July 22, 1927 at 8 :00 P? M.

Council met in regular session persuant to adjournment if, 1927, at 8:00
P. M., with Mayor Dunlap presiding and the following Councilmen present: DAVIS,.DUTTOI
JACKSON, MCCONNEL AND TRWFORD. ABSENT: HOPFMAN.
It was voted on motion of 1viaConnel, seconded by Jackson, that the contract be
awarded to Chas. H. Helmer for $3648.00 to build Storm Sewer to Local Improvement Dietr!
No. 5.
It was vented on motion of Mumford, seconded by Jackson, that the Certificate of
Deposit accompanying the bid on Storm Sewer made by doldwell Plumbing & Heating do. be
returned to them.
The matter of the approach to the $he11 Filling Station on 7th Street was
referred to the Street Committee with power to act.

NAYES: NONE.
ABSENT: HOFFIM. The Mayor declared that Bill No. 5 had passed by the necessary 3/4
majority, and now became Ordinance No. 442.
Bill Be. 6, was read the third time in full, end on the question as put by the
Mayor, Shall Bill No. 6 pass?, the Clerk was caused to call the roll with the following
result-.
AYES: DAVIS, DUTTON, JACKSON, IICCONNEL AND =07D.
NAYES: NONE.
ABSENT: HOPAIAN. The Mayor dedlared that Bill No. 6 had passed by the necessary 3/4
majority, and now became Ordinance No. 443.
It was voted on motion of Jackson, seconded by'Davie, that the City Engincer'e
Bond be fixed at 01000.00.
It was voted on motion of Mumford, seconded by Davis, that Council adjourn.

It was voted pn motion of MoO.onnel, seconded by Davis, that the Mayor appoint
a committee to investigate the formation of a Garbage. District, and provide way and
means to take care of the City garbage and disposing of same. The Mayog appointed.
Jackson and Mumford as the committee.
