The Council met pursuant to call and acknowledgment of notice in the following form: CALL AND ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF NOTICE We the undersigned Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Caldwell, Idaho, do eacch hereby acknowledge notice of a special meeting of the said City Council to be held at the Council Chambers, in the City Hall in the City of Caldwell, Idaho, on the 12th, day of July, 1957, for tte rransaction of all business in connection with the following object: Civil Defence Operation Alert, which oboct was presented to each of the undersigned in writing. Upon Roll Call the following Councilmen answered present: L. P. Eldredge and Leland Finley. Absent:Fran Blomquist. 4 Mayer E. L. Vassar, Emile Shorb, Max Luby, The Mayor informed the Council the meeting was called in compliance with the Civil Defense Operation Alert. The alert was given at 10:30 o'clock A. M. the Council was in session at 10:15 A. M. - The Mayor declared an emergency and the Council was prepared to take any steps necessary. Therbeing no further business to come before the Council it was moved by Councilman Luby, seconded by Councilman Finley that Council adjourn. Motion carried. w Mayor. L. Vassar, Fran Blomquist, Max Luby, L. P. Eldredge and Leland Finley. Absent: Emile Shexb. Mr. A. C. Garber, representing the Chamber of Commerce and Councilman Finley discussed available a sites for new industries interested in locating in Caldwell. Mr. Garber asked if there were any sites li available at the Airport. Councilman Blomquist reported them was approximately ten acres of land in the North -east corner I� ' of the Airport that might be available fcr industrial sites. The City Engineer was instructed to list land available for industrial purposes, also, to make a survey of the North -east corner of the Airport. The City Attorney was instructed to check and report if this would interfer ::ith the C. A. A, Thereupon it was moved by Blomquist, seconded by Finley the City of Caldwell cooperate with the Cha. of Commerce and make availatle to the Chamber of Commerce approximately ten acreas of land lying in the North -east corner of the Airport for industrial development. Upon Roll Call it appeared the motion was unanimously carried. Councilman Finley reported Caldwell tire dealers would give the City on purchase of tires code price less 10 %. Councilman Tinley rec:..:mended rather than submit bids, department heads be authorized to purchase what ever level tires were needed and to distribute the tire purchases among Caldwell dealers . The City Attorney was instructed to check if this would conflict with the statutes. ' it Councilman Blomquist reported trucks speeding on Colorado. Councilman Finley reported trees and shubbery in parking were causing a traffic hazard. This was referred to the Police Department. There being no further business to come before the Council it as moved by Councilman Vassar, seconded by Councilman Eldredge that Council adjourn. The Ccancil met pursuant tc call and acknowledgment of notice in the following form: CALL h9B ACKNOWLEUGInENT OF NOTICE Ede, the undersigned Mayor and Members of the City Council zf the City of Caldwell, Idaho, do each hereby acknowledge notice of a special meeting of the said City Council to be held at the Council Chambers, in the City Hall in the City of Caldwell, Idaho, at the hour of 8:00 o'clock P. M. on the 22nd day of July, 1957, for the transaction of all business in connection with the following object: Receiving and opening bids for curb aid gutter at the City park and sidewalk in front of the Office Building, which object was presented to each of the undersigned in writing. WITNESS our signatures this 22nd day of July, IM. - 7 Mayor. Mayor Ed Simmerman presiding. Upon Roll Call the following Councilmen answered present: E. L. Vassar, Max Luby, Leland Finley. "Absent; Fran Blomquist, Emile Short, L. P. Eldredge. I A qu_rum was not present. I Moved by Vassar, seconded by Finley that Council recess until called by the Mayor. All Councilmen pr,sent voted in fa.er of the motion. The Mayor announced the meeti .g would be turned over for discussion. Joe Hunt, Vector Control Specialist, U.S.P.H.S., assigned to Idaho, Bob Olson, Public Health I II Fublic Health Specialist and C. J. Hammond, Sr. Sanitarian, State Board of Health were present and discussed garbage disposal.
