The Council met in regular session pursuant to adjournment with M Wor Miller,presiding,
Counollmaai,Bollman, Simbrough,Mumford, Oakes, and Rowland,preenet and Westoott absent.
The following Resolution by 8imbrough was presented:
Whereae,Mr.E.M.Oory, has rendered valuable and oonscientuos service to the City of Cald.
we71 is hie official capacity as Chief of the Fire Department, and Jae as such officer
materially reduced the fire hazard, and the insaranoe rate required of the mitizene amd
property owners to be paid therefor, and
Whereas, the private business affairs of Mr.Cory have made it necessary that he give up
the office of Fire Chief an& tender his resignation of the sald office to the Mayor and
City Council,
Now,Therefors, be it resolved by the Mager and Council of the City of Caldwell, that a
vote of thanks be tendered to Mr.E.M.Oory, as the retiring Fire Chief of the City of Cald-
well, and that the City Clerk be authorized and directed to omnvey to him our feelings
of personal appreciation and solicitation of his future success.
It was voted on motion of Mumford, seoon&ed Oakes, that the above Resolution be
adopted and a Copy of thebsame be mailed to E.M.Cory.
Councilmen Restoott appeared at this time.
The following Resolution was peesentedt
'Whereas, it has been made to appear to the Mater and Council of the City of Caldwell
that the Stabs of Idaho, acting through its Commissioner of Public Works, and the County
of Canyon, acting through its Board of County Commissioners, are about to enter tnt& a
co- operative undertaking for the oonstruoyion and improvement of that certain state high-
way running 'Peet from the &ower end. of Main Street through Romedale, and 'West to the Idaho -
Oregon State Line, and
Whereas, siad highway conneote with Avon Street at the Wiest City Limits, of the City of
maldwell, and
Whereas, the construction and improvement of the same is made to depend on the construct-
ion and improvement of Aven Street and Cleveland Boulevard to gimball Avenue in a manner
constatent and in harmony with the said improvement of the said highway,and.

Whereas, theoonstruotlon and improvement of the said highway and the said public streets
for the best interests of the people of the City of Caldwell,
lyow,Therefore, be it resolved by the Mayor and Council of the City of Cal dwell, Canyon C
State of Idaho, that it be and is herby declared to be the purpose and policy of the said ]
and Council that Avon Street from its connection with the State Highway knbwn the Homedals
and Cleveland Boulevard from its connection with Avon Street to Kimball Avenue, be immedia

Whereas,Memorial Park is located within the City, of Caldwell,County of Canyon, State
and comprises apart of the irrigable acreage of the Pioneer Irrigation District, ELM has g:
therein lawns, flowere,shrubs, and trees inj large numbers, and is used by the Public as a
Park, and requires for the proper maintenance thereof water for irrigation from the irrig&
system of the Pioneer Irrigation District, and,
Morons, water for said purposes has been heretofore supplied by said Pioneer Irrigat
District, and,
Marano, duringthe presnet irrigating season, -the siF d Pioneer Irrigation District he
neglected, and refused to supply water to glad Park for irrigation purposes, althoughthe B

Bill No.18 by Mnmford, "Entitled an OrdOnance appropriating money in each enm and suzas as are
deemed necessary to defray all proper expenses and liabilities of the City of Oaldwell, 2.ot
otherwise provided, for the fiscal year begihning'on the first Tassay of May,19229 was rind for
the first titpe. A motion was made by Westoott, aeoonded by Bollman, that the rules requiring the
reading of a Bill on hhree separits days be suspended with and read the second time by t tle and
the third time in fall and pllced on its final passage. The roll being called on the a the
