The Council met pursuant to call and acknowledgement of notice in the following form: We, the undersigned Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Caldwell, Idaho, do hereby acknowledge notice of a Special Meeting of the said City Council to be held in the Council Chambers in the City Hall in the City of Caldwell, Idaho, at the hour of 4:00 P. N., on the 8th day of July, 1966, for the transaction of all business in connection with the following object: Receiving and opening bids for construe - ion of the Pump House for the 18th Avenue and Main Street Well No. 6. Witness our signatures this 8th day of July, 1966. Upon roll call, the following Councilmen answered present: Charles C. Banks, James W. °Bill° Keys, V. Jay Martin, Charles W. Carpenter, and C. A. "Chat" Davenport. Absent: William S. Harrison. Opening of Bids Mayor Smith briefly reviewed the purpose of this meeting afterwhich the following bids were opened for the construction of the panp house for the 18th Avenue and Main Street Well No. 6. Engineer's estimate waa $5,222.28. B. M. Hayes - Route 3, Caldwell, Idaho -------- — ---------------------------- — $ 5435.00 i (Bid was accompanied by a Cashier's Check in the amount of $271.755 / Idaho Public Works Contractors License No. 617 -A). Bob Madden - P. 0. Box 1075 - Caldwell, Idaho --------------------- ------ --- -- $ 5800.00 (Bid was accompanied by a Bid Bond in 5% of the amount of the bid / Idaho h Public Works Contractors License No. 297 -A). David G. Dorsey - Caldwell, Idaho - --- -- --------- -- - - -- _- -- -- - -- - - - - $ 8842.00 (Bid was accompanied by a Bid Bond in 5,4 of the amount of the bid / Idaho Public Works Contractors License No. 117 -A). Councilman Har_ison entered the meeting at this time and the bids were reviewed for his information I City Engineer Mel Lewis explained that the completion date for the construction in accordance with the specifications was Auguat 15, 1966 with a penalty clause of $25.00 per day. He also explained that he hai been informed by two of the bidders that there may be some delay in obtaining the hollow core, steel doors as they were not .standard and, in answer to the question, he stated that the penalty clause would not apply in an instance of this land. I It was moved by Councilman Martin, seconded by Councilman Banks, that the low bid of B. M. Hayes be accepted. A vote was taken and the motion carried. Request coneer::ing I.M.L. Convention Councilman Davenport, as General Chairman for the I.M.L. Convention in Caldwell approximately a yea from this time, requested that each Councilman be observant at the coming Convention in Coeur d'Alene and !bring back any constructive criticisims that could be applied for improving the Convention in Caldwell. It was moved by Councilman Banc., seconded by Councilman Harrison, that the meeting adjourn subject to the recess of the meeting held on July 5, !966. A vote was taken and the motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 4:25 P. M.
