The Qounoil met in regaZar session with Mayor Biller, presiding - Councilmen, Bollman, KImbrough
Bamford, Oakes,Rovland, and Westoott present.
John Baker tendered his resignation as Chief- of -Polioe.It was voted on motion of Kilbrough,
seconded by Bamford, that the resignation be accepted.
The mayor announced the appointment of J.W.Watkins to fill the vacancy caused by the sign ..
ation of Baker. It was voted on motion of We®toott,seconds& by Rowland, that the Appointm ent be
approved.
It was voted on motion of westoott, seconded by Bollman, that the Surety Bond of the
Western Rational Bank in lieu of the personal -Bond held by the City be accepted on r000n endation
Of Bamford,Chm. of the Finance Committee.
It was voted on motion of Bollman, seconded by Bamford, that th ounoil adjourn.

The aounoil met in regular session with Mayor Miller ,presiding,Councilmen,Boll —, I amford,
Oakes, and Rowland, present, and Kimbrough and Westoott absent.
The resignation of E.B.Cory, as Fire- Ohief, was presented. It was voted on motion o
Oakes, seconded by Rowland, that the same be accepted.
The Mayor announced the appoint went of H.O.Cillette as Fire ihief. It was voted oz motion
of Bamford, seconded by Oakes, that the same be confirmed.
The following Resolution by Bamford,was presented.
Whereas, John A.Baker, has served the Citizens of Caldwell in the office of Chief-of-
Police for the past six yeare,and,
Whereae,� during said period he has discharged the duties of the office effioient13 and
conscientiously, and has rendered valuableservioen to the ottizens of Caldwell, and.
Whereas, he has found it necessary to tender hoe resignation of the said office.

feeling of appreciation and expression of thanks for services well performed be axtended 1ho

July 12th,1922.

COUNCIL CHAMERS,JULY IZTH,1922.
The Council met in regular session pursuant to adjournment with MW or Miller,presiding,
Couneliven,Bollman, Kimbrough,Mumford, Oakes, and Rowland,presnet and Westoott absent.
The following Resolution by Kimbrough was presented:
Whereas, Mr. E.M. Cory, has rendered valuable and oonsoientuos servioe to the City of Cald-
well in his official capacity as Chief of the Fire Department, and Jae as such officer
materially reduced the fire hazard, and the insurance rate required of the aitizene amd
property owners to be paid therefor, and
Whereas, the private businase affairs of Mr.Cory have made it necessary that he give up
the office of Fire Chief and tender him resignation of the sadd office to the Mayor and
City council,
Now,Therefore, be it resolved by the Mager and Counoil of the City of Caldwell, that a
vote of thanks be tendered to Mr.E.M.Cory, as the retiring Fire Chief of the City of Cald-
well, and that the City Clerk be authorized and directed to obnvey to him our feelings
of personal appreciatim and solicitation of his future suoeess.
It was voted on motion of Mum ford, seconded Oakes, that the above Resolution be
adopted and a Copy of thebsame be mailed to E.M.Oory.
Councilmen Westoott appeared at this time.
The following Resolution was presented:
Whereas, it has been made to appear to the Mayor and Council of the City of Caldwell
that the State of Idaho, acting through its Commissioner of Public Works, and the County
of Canyon, acting through its Board of County Commissioners, are about to enter anti a
co- operative undertaking for the oonstruoyion and improvement of that certain atate high-
way running West from the tower end. of Main Street through Homedale, and West to the Idaho -
Oregon State Line, and
Whereas, siad highway ooimects with Avon Street at the West City Limits, of the City of
Caldwell, and
Whereas, the construction and improvement of the same is made to depend on the construct-
ion and improvement of Avon Street and Cleveland Boulevard to Kimball Avenue in a manner
oonsdstent and in harmony with the said improvement of the said highway,and.
