HomeMy WebLinkAbout1915-06-28 city council minutes543 Fortes stated that the price of lots 1 to 12 inclusive of Block 30, Original t©wneite, located on Rain between 12th and 13th Streets had now been re- duced to $150.00. The matter of requiring banks to furnish surety bonds as City depositories was discussed. It was voted ulon motion of Tortes, seconded Lilly, that the City require tl.e tanks to give surety bonds, as City Desposituries, totaling $60,000.00, and the rate of interest paid fur city dapusits be clanged to 2 1 /E' for daily balances. Said banks to agree amoung themselves as to the amount of bond each bank ie to furnish. It was voted upon motion of Lilly tLat the Finance Cossrnittee be requested to submit at the next regular meeting a tentative draft of the probable amount of money necessary to defray the expenses of the current year. It was voted upon mutton of Lilly that the Yayur appuint a Cum -mittee of three, including the City Attorney, to investigate the matter of sign boards and the regulating of the same within the City limits and that a report be made at the next regular meeting. The Mayur al,l.oirted Dement and Lilly to serve with the City Attorney. Councilman Lilly stated that in his upiniun tLe traffic ordinance shuuld be enforced more ril;ldly. TLe Mayor instructed the Chief of Police to rigidly enforce tLe same and also the Ordinance relating to bicycle riding on the sidewalke. Council meet in regular session, pursuant to adjurnment, with Mayor Fred C. Buyee, presiding, Councilmen Ackley, Dement, Forbes and Hayman, present, S. Ben Dunlap, Clerk, when the following business was transacteds The Cuxriuittee,appuinted to euneider the culvert bids submitted at the last meeting, reported, recommending that no culvert be purchased at this time. They stated that in their opinion this was an inopportune time to buy because of the high price un this material. It was voted upon motion of Forbes, seconded Ackley, that all culvert bide be rejected. I r - 1 A communication was read from the Utah Currugated Culvext and Flume Company, Woods Cruse, UtaL, under date of June, 24th, 1915, quoting prices un steel culvert. 544 Dem.ant stated that thrre seemed to be some misunderstanding as to whether the concrete bids submitted at the last meeting were to cover rexair work as well as new work. It was stated that the Council understood these bids to be for all concrete work. 1 1 Bill No. 2, by Forbes, entitled, "An Ordinance vacating, abandoning and discontinuing the plat and the alley appearing thereon of the Blgcks Sixty (60), Sixty one (61) and Sixty three (63) of Mountain View Addition to the City of Caldwell, Idaho, as the same appear upon the revised map thereof now on file in the office of the Recorder of Canyon County, Idaho ", was read for the second time. The Attorney submitted a contract to be entered into between the City and Terry and Me Gee contractors, covering the agreement for the construction of concrete work. It was voted upon motion of Hayman that the Mayor and Clerk be empowered and Instructed to sign the same on behalf of the City. The City Attorney was instructed to draft an ordinance to amend the Ordinance providing that the City Fanks are depostitories for City Funds, changing the rate of interest required and the kind of bonds to be furnished.
