HomeMy WebLinkAbout1953-06-22city council minutes6 from Sineteenth Avenue to Twentieth Avenue between Everett Street and Fillmore Street and requested the Counc 1 to rescind the motion opening the alley. The matter was thoroughly discussed and the Mayor informed the group this request would be con— sidered and they would be notified of the decision. Discussion was again opened regarding the proposed site for a Fire Hall on Main between Tenth & [Eleventh. It was unanimously agreed by the Council that the site proposed by_Mrs. Blanksma would be inadequa The opening of the alley from Nineteenth Avenue to Twentieth Avenue between Everett and Fillmore Streets was again brought up for discussion. The Council decided to leave the alley in its.present status. Whereupon it was moved by Councilman Bettis, seconded by Councilman Fenrich that the motion passedppa&wd May 4th, 1953, opening this alley be rescinded. Upon Roll Call it appeared the motion was unanimously carried. Councilman Burrell informed the Mayor and Council dusting by airplane for elm beetle was started Monday morning There being no further business to come before the Council, it was moved by Councilman Reick, seconded by Councilman Fenrich that Council adjourn. The Council met pursuant to call and acknowledgment of notice in the following form: CALL AND ACKN(Y-=G"T OF NOTICE We the undersigned Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Caldwell, Idaho, do each hereby acknowledge notice of a special meeting of said City Council to be held at the Council Chambers in the City Hall in the City of Caldwell, Idaho, at the how' of 800 o'clock P. M. on the 22nd day of June, 1953, for the transaction of all business in connection with the following object: Receiving bid+n Local Improvement District No 21, which object was submitted to each of the undersigned in writing. Bettis. me This being the time set by notice for receiving of bids for constrrction of a sewer system in Local Improvement District 8 21. One bid was received as follows: 3 C. L. Strang $ 5,382.20 This bid was examined by the and Council and the City Engineer. RESOLUTION By Councilman Eggers Moved by Councilman Burrell, seconded by Councilman Blomquist that the following Resolution be adop WHEREAS, C. L. Strang of Nampa,. has presented a bid in the amount of 8 5082,20, for the construction of a sewer system in Local Improvement District N 21, and G 'J iii WHEREAS, it appears to the best advantage of the City of Caldwell to accept this bid, NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk, on behalf of the City of Caldwell be authorized to execute a contract agreement with Mr. C. L. Strang for laying sewer in Local Improvement District #.21. Upon Roll Call the following Councilmen voted in the affirmative: Blomquist, Burrell, Eggers, Weick, Fenrich and Bettis. Negatives None. Absent and not voting: None. Thereupon the Mayor declared the motion carried and the Resolution adopted. A flag of the United States was presented to the City of Caldwell by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, whose twenty -first encampment was held in Caldwell. Leona Bates of District No 8, Auxiliary made the I presentation. Councilman Bettis as Acting M accepted the flag on behalf of the City. Moved by Burre!1, seconded by Blomquist that the City Clerk be instructed to write a letter of thanks to the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Motion carried. Renewal of the garbage cantract was again brought up for discussion. Mr. Nicol waa'present and requested permission to increase rates for garbage hauling. - Moved by Fenrich, seconded by Blomquist that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare a new contract and that Mr. Nicol be given permission to increase rates effective July 1. Sche&Lle'of new rates to be filed with the City Clerk. Upon Roll Call it appeared the motion was unanimously carried. Thereupon Councilman Bettis introduced Bill 2, entitled: AN ORDINANCE MAKING IT UNLA4FUL FOR ANY PERSON TO CUT ANY STREET OR ALLEY OF THE CITY OF CALDWELL, IDAHO, FOR,THE PURPOSE OF MAKING SEWER CONNECTIONS, WATER CONNECTIONS, OR OTHER]NISE, WITHOUT FIRST OBTAINING PERMISSION.OF THE CITY ENGINEER; PROVIDING THE PERSON CUTTING THE STREET OR ALLEY TO REIMBURSE THE CITY OF CALDWII.L FOR THE COST OF RESTORING THE STREET OR ALLEY; PROVIDING THE PENALTY FOR VIOLATING THIS ORDINANCE. which was read for the first time and the Council proceeded to a consideration of Bill No 2.' �'!J There being no further business to come before the 9ouncil it was moved by Councilman Fenrich, I seconded by Councilman Bettis that Council adjourn.
