Whereupon, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried, and the preamble and re- solution duly adopted. r Moved by Fenrich, seconded by Hollingsworth that the salaries of the Fire De- partment be raised to the place they were before the 10 percent reduction, Motion carried. h There being no further business to come before the Council, it was mo#ed by Mont gamery, seconded by Hollingsworth, that Council adjourn to meet June 9th.,, 1936. Pursuant to ad,jourment of the regular meeting of June let., 1936, the Mayor and )ouncil met with the Bdayor,'Emery L. Vassar, presiding. On Roll Call the following Councilmen answered present: Edgar L. pekes, F. D. aEumford, G. M. Fenrich and W. R. Hollingsworth: Absent: W.S.Boynton and G. W. Montgomery. Whereupon, the following preamble and resolution was presented by Councilman 3ollingsworth. Councilmen, IT. S. Boynton and G - :W. Montgomery entered and were marked prose WT REAS; There passes through the City of Caldwell, Canyon County, Idaho, a iatural stream commonly known as "Indian Creek," which said creek intersects certain street ind avenues of the City of Caldwell, and WHEREAS, The present bridges across the said creek at the places hereinafter In- licated, where it intersects said streets and avenues, were originally made of wood, and lave become rotten and deeayeddand unsuitable to carry the tra -fic along said streets and Mantles and across said creek; and it appearing to the Mayor and City Council of the City if Caldwell that the said bridges, and each of them, or any of them, are liable to col - .apse under the daily strain of the normally heavy loads that pass over them; and should hey collapse the City of Caldwell would be subjected to expensive damage suits for injurial shat might occur to persons and property, and that the recovery of damages, costs and ex- enses against the said City in any of such suite might reasonably be expected to create a reater expense to the City of Caldwell than the reconstruction and replacement of the said everal bridges. NOW, THEREFORE, HE IT RESOLVED That the Mayor and Council of the City of Cald- all, Canyon County, Idaho, do hereby determine that it is necessary, and for the best in- terests of the City of Caldwell, the inhabitants and residents and citizens thereof and all arsons traveling said several streets and avenues of the City of Caldwell, to build and metruct bridges of suitable material and strength to support the traffic on or eccross the treets and avenues where they interesect and cross said Indian Creek, to -wit At the intersection of said Indian Creek with Fourth Avenue South and Arthur Street. At the intersection of said Indian Greek with Fifth Avenue South and Arthur Street. it. a _ N0: None. Absent.and not voting: None. Whereupon, the Mayor declared the motion carried and the preanble and resolution duly adopted. The Mayor appointed the following committee to investigate the course of Indian Creek and also the buildings over Indian Creek: Councilman.Oakes, City Attorney, City Engineer and Joe Dickens. �­Iep .i�� The Mayor appointed the following as the Municipal Golf Course Committee: Emery Bales for period of four years, Grant Ward for a period of three years, Floyd Southward for a period of two years, Willard Robinson for a period of one year and Councilman G. 1I. Montgomery until the expiration of his term as councilman. Moved by Oakes, sec -nded by blumford that these appointments be approved. At the intersection of said Indian Creek with Blaine Street and Seventh Avenue South. t the Intersection of said Indian Creek with Tenth Avenue South ry between Arthur and Blaine Streets, At the intersection of said Indian Creek with Eleventh Avenue South and Arthur street. At the the intersection of said Indian Creek with Twelfth Avenue South between Arthur and Main Streets. At the intersection of said Indian Creek with Twenty -first Avenue North, between Chicago and the Union Pacific Railroad. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That the Mayor and City Council of the City of Caldwell are now desirous of making said improvements by the construction and installation of suit, able and proper bridges across said Indian Creek at the above mentioned places, said bridg to be constructed of Aon:cred;p,steel and iron, with concrete or laminated floors, as may be hereafter determined by the City Engineer, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That F. 11, McOonnel, the duly appointed, qualified and - acting City Engineer of the City of Caldwell, Canyon County, Idaho, be, and he is, hereby i directed and instructed to prepare proper and complete plane, drafts and specifications for the construction and installation of bridges and improvements at said places, and sub- mit said plans, drafts and specifications to the Mayor and Council of the City of Caldwell, Canyon County, Idaho, for their approval and adoption. Whereupon, Councilman Mumford moved the adoption of said resolution, whibh motion was seconded by Councilman Fenrich. Said motion being put, a yea and nay vote was had thereon, with the following rsults: i Yes: Councilman Oakes, Mumford, Boynton, Fenrich, Hollingsworth and Montgomery. _ N0: None.
