Absent and not voting: Thereupon the Mayor d eelared t'nat the Proposed Ordinance No. 551 had passed, and Mayor, in open session of the Council duly si,.ned and approved the Ordinance, and the k duly signed and attested the same, whien became Ordinance No. 551. The Mayor then directed the Clerk to make proper entry of the same and tor ause nance No 551, to be printed in the Caldwell News - Tribune, the official newspaper of City of Caldwell, Idaho, There being no further business to come before the Council it was moved by Rinds nded by mumford, that Council adjourn. Motion carried. CXty Clerk. COTTNCIL CHA1: JUNE 6th., 1938. 6:00 P. M, J The Regular Monthly Meeting of the €ity Council met in the Council Room of the City Hall with the mayor, W. R. Hollingsworth, presiding. On Roll Call the following Councilmen answered present: F. D. Mumford, T. E. Babcock, G. t. Fenrich and Norvil T. Rinds. Absent; Edgar L. Oakes and W. S. Boynton. The Clerk read a petition from W. E. March r ^questing the cancellation of weed cutting and sprinkling taxes on Lot 5-ixteen of Block Twenty -nine of the Original Townsite of the City of Caldwell. After due consideration the following Resolution was presented to the Mayor and Council by Councilman Fenrich who moved the adoption thereof which motion was duly seconded by Councilman Babcock. RESOLUTION By Fenrich. WH R ^AS, W. E. March, has presented a petition to the Mayor and Council for the cancellation of the following taxes on hot Sixteen (16) of Block Twenty -nine (29) of the Original Townsite of the City of Caldwell, Canyon County, Idaho, according to the plat thereof, now on file in the Office of the Recorder of Canyon County, Idaho. 1922 - - - - -- Sprinkling tax---- - - - - -- $ 1.96 1922 - - - -- -Weed Cutting Tax-- - - - - -- 1.00 192^. - - - - -- Sprinkling Tax---- - - - - -- 1.85 1925 - - - - -- Sprinkling Tax ---------- 1.85 1926 - -- -- Sprinkling Tax---- - - - - -- 1.65 Total - - - - - -- $ 9.41 1 and he represents that he was about to construct a dwelling upon the promises and' that he had acquired the property at Tax Sale from Canyon County, Idaho, and, WREREAS, it appears to the Mayor and Council that there is a goodcause for allowing said petition, i I PLOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that said taxes and assessments be and the same are hereby remitted and cancelled in accordance with this said petition and the Treasurer of Canyon County, Idaho, be and she is hereby authorized and directed to charge the same off and cancel the same gpon her books and to issue all necessary papers and instruments t carry into effect the purpose of this resolution, A Yea and nay vote was had thereon with the following result: Yea: Mumford, Babcock, Fenrich and finds. The Minutes of May 2nd., 9th., and 20th., were road and a pproved as read. Moved by Mumford, seconded by Fenrich that during the illness of 0. G. Boyd pr' the remainder of the fiscal year that he be paid a salary of $70.00 per month. A Yea and Nay vote was had thereon with the following result: All the Council- men present voted in favor thereof and none against. Whereupon the Mayor declared the motion carried and the Resolution adopted. Moved by Mumford, seconded by Babcock that H, E. Felton be appointed Chief of Police and John Thomas on the Police Force. A Yea and Nay vote was had thereon with the following result; All the Council- man present voted infavor of the motion., and none against. Whereupon the Mayor declared the motioncarried and the Resolution adopted. Moved by Hinds, seconded by Fenrich that the foreman of the different depart- ments of the City be raised 115.00 per month, Earnest Earl to receive a salary of $120 per month, C. D. Crandal J110 per month, N. W. .zones $110., and W, H. Gainey $80. A Yea and Nay vote was had thereon with the following result: All the Councilme present voted in favor of the motion and none against. Whereupon the Mayor d;olcared the motion carried and the Resolution adopted,. The Bills for May were read and on motion by Mumford, seconded by Babcock that these Bills be allowed and Warrants be drawn for the various amounts all of which had been approved by the Chairman of the Ninance Committee. ' WREREAS, it appears necessary to purchase cast iron water mains for the replace- - went of certain water mains within the ity of Caldwell and there is a sum of $1600 now in the Waterworks Depreciation Fund and available to be used for the purchase and payment of said pipe, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Clerk of the City of Caldwell is here- by authorized to draw a warrant in payment of the said claim of the Pacific Cast Iron Pipe Co,, for said pipe in the sum of �180C, and the Treasurer of the City of Caldwell be and he is hereby authorized to pay said warrant from the Waterworks Depreciation Fund when it is presented for payment. A Yea and Nay vote was had thereon with the following result: Yeg: P.4umford, Babcock, Fenrich, and Hinds. Nay: None.
