Moved by Councilman Tinley, seconded by Councilman Luby nominations be closed.
Upon Roll Call it appeared. the motion was unanimously carried.
Moved by Councilman Shorb,seconded by Councilman Finley the Clerk be instructed tocall the Roll
on nominations for President of the Council. Motion carried.
Upon Roll Call those voting in favor of Eldredge were: Blomquist, Shorb and Eldredge.
' Upon Roll Call those voting in favor of Vassar were: Vassar, Luby and Finley.
E According to the Idaho Code 50 -321 when the Council is equally divided the Mayor shall have a
casting vote.

Mayo. Simmerman cast his vote in favor of E_ L. Vassar.
Thereupon the Mayor declared E. L. Vassar to be President of the Council.
f Councilman Blomquist spoke in favor of L. P. Eldredge who has been a member of the `'ouncil tar
a number of years.
Moved by Shorb, seconded by Blomquist that a unanimous vote be cast for E. L. Vassar for President
l of the Council.
Upon Roll Call it appeared the motion was unanimously carried.
Councilman Vassar informed the Mayor and Council he apprecia -,ed the nomination and would work
h for the best interest of the City.
There being no further business to come before the Council it was moved by "cuncilman Luby,
seconded by Councilman Tinley that Council adjourn to meet June 5th, at 7:30 o'clock P. M. Motion carried

Pursuant to adjournment of June 3rd, 1957, the City Council met in the Council Rooms ofthe City III
3Hall, with the Mayor Ed Simmerman presiding.
Upon Roll Call the following Councilmen answered present: Max Luby, Emile Shorb, L. P. Eldredge,
and Leland Finley. Absent: E. L. Vassar and Fran Blomquist.
The Mayor informed the Council Lhe Budget for 1957 -195b would be considered.
Councilman Blomquist entered and was marked present.

The Budget for the Police Department, which included salary raises,was discussed.
Moved by Finley, seconded by Eldredge the Police Budget with salary raises be approved.
Upon Roll Call the following Councilmen voted in the affirmative: Blomquist, luby, Shorb,
Eldredge and Finley. Negative: None. Absent and not voting: Vassar. I I
I Thereupon the Mayor declared the motion carried and the Police Budget accepted.

Pursua to adjournment of June 6th, the City Council met in the Council Chambers of the City II

Upon Roll Call the following Councilmen answered present: Fran Blomquist, Max Luby, Emile Shorb,
L. P. Eldredge and Leland Finley. Absent E. L. Vassar.
In the absence of the Mayor and President of the Council,Fran Blomquist acted as Mayor* l

Councilman Eldredge discussed proposed wage changes and recommended a careful study be made and a
plan worked worked out that would be fair to all employees*
Mayor Si:mnerman entered and presided over the balance of the meeting*
Discussion was held on 44 or 48 hour week. No action w- .staken.
Moved by Shorb, seconded by Luby the Irrigation Budget be approved.
