JUNE 4th, 1945,
The Regular Monthly meeting of the City Council het in the Council Rooms of the
City Hall with the Mayor G. L. Crockham, Jr, presiding.
On Roll Call the following Councilmen answered present: J. F. sloop, Leo J.
Mason, Pete Clasen, L. E.Burrall. Absent; 0. L. Thornock and R. ti. McNeill.
Moved by Sloop, seconded by Mason that the Council dispense with the reading of
the Minutes.
Mr, A.- E:.Sutton'And Dr E,,rl Werner, representing the Rotary Club, were present
and requested the cooperation of the Mayor and Council in establishing a play ground and
furnishing equipment for children of the North Side.
The Mayor informed Mr. Sutton and Dr. Warner that several other organizations
were also interested in a playground program and that the matter would be taken up in the
near future.
Councilman_ McNeill entered and was marked present.
Messers Parlay, Ullrich and Stickney were present and requested the•extention of
domestic water service on West Loran Street.
Ceuncilmen Olesen informed these gentlemen this matter would be taken under
advisement.
A petition was presented to the Mayor and Council ror the cancellation of taxes
on property owned by W. H. Odle.
Thereupon the following Resolution was presented to the Mayor and Council by
Councilman Sloop:
RESOLUTION
By Councilman Sloop,
It was moved by Councilman Sloop, seconded by Councilman Clasen that the followin€
^esolution be adopted:
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CANCELLATION OF CERTAIN SPECIAL CITY TAXES, LEVIED
1ND ASSESSED AGAINST THE PROPERTY HEREIN DESCRIBED.
WHEREAS, W. H. Odle is the owner of Lots 10 to 18 inclusive, Washington Heights
iddition to the City of Caldwell, Idaho.
WHM EAS, Special City Taxes for the years 1930 to 1935 inclusive are unpaid and
lelinquent, to -wit;
Local Imp Dist No.9 (C&G) Principal t 336.55 Penalty 408.70.
Local Imp Dist No 11 (Drain) " 21.04 it 51.49.
Local Imp Dist No 13 (Oil) " 343,78 "
LOdal Imp Dist No 7 (oil) n 88,53 61.57. 60.78.

WHEREAS, The bonds on Dist No 9 are all paid, and the warrants on Dist's Nos
11 and 13 are all paid, and the Mayor and Council can cancel the Sprinkling chargea,
WHEREAS, It has been cbtermined by the Mayor and the Council of the Citv of Cald-
well, Idaho, that it is for the beat interesta of said City, that upon payment
of the sum of t 250,10 the amount of the delinauendy for big ilict No 7, for which warrants
are still out and unpaid, the other delinquencies be cancelled
NOW, THRREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That upon the payment of $250.70 for the Dist No
7 Delinquencies, the taxes for the districts Nos 1, 11, 13, and sprinkling together with
all penalties and interest, for the years 1930 to 1935 inclusive, be, and the same are
cancelled and said lots be, and the

Upon Roll Gall, it appeared that the motion was unanimously adopted.
Application for Pool and Card License was read from S. ?.Bow the fee accompanying
the application.
Application for Card Room License was read from the Rummy kormae the fee accompany.

Moved by McNeill, seconded by Mason that these licenses be granted. Motion •
The City Engineer informed the Mayor and Council that the State H&Shway Depart-
ment had made application to purchase a tract of ground on the easterly side of Chicago
Street and Sixteenth Avenue to be used for garage and equipment yard.
Moved by Olosen, seconded by Burrell that the Mayor and Councilman Mason in-
vestigate and report back to the Council. Motion carried.
• Councilman Clasen discussed with the Council the changing of Caldwell's
Domestic 5'4ater Rates, also, made comparision between Caldwell's water rates with those of
Boise, Weiser, Nampa, Payette and Emmett.
The Mayor appointed the City Engineer and Councilman Olesen as a Committee to
investigate the advisability of raising water rates and to report to the Council at the
next meeting.
The Mayor appointed CARL F SEIGMAN as PATROLMAN of the POLICE DEPARTMENT and
W. H. WHITLEY, as POUND MASTER.
Moved by Burrell, seconded by Mason that these appointments be confirmed.
Motion carried.
.The Bills for May were read and on motion by Sloop, seconded by McNeill that
these Bills be allowed and Warrents ordered drawn for the various amounts all of which
had been approved by the Finance Committee. Motion carried.
