Council meet in regular session, with Idayor F. L. Lilly, presiding, present,
Councilmen Dickens, Amos J. Miller, F. R. Ivdiller, Mitchell, Sanberg and Lard, City Clerk,
S. Ben Dunlap, when the following business was transacted:
Oakes appoars reforence narrowing Dearborn _tr�et.
Mr. R. W. Oakes appeared-stating that a petition reguesting that Dearborn
Street, between Kimball and 20th Avenues, be narrowed between the curb lines, would soon
be filed with the City Council. He stated that a majority of the property owners favored
the change and asked the Council to be considering the matter.

Messrs. W. 11. Ewing, X. S. Sandmeyer and 1. S. Jackson, rel - resenting the
Commercial Club appeared and presented a written pommoclioation, containing suggestions for
beautifying the City.
The matter was referred to the road and park Committees.
Kowalk complains of condition of ditch on le. -In.
Mr. J. :'d. Kowalk appeared and complained of condition of ditch, located on
Elgin Street. He stated that water was allowed to overflow streets and private property.
The City Attorney was instructed to put a stop to the nuisance.

effecting the extension of water mains under A. S. L. tracks near stock yards.
It was voted on motion of Councilman F. R. Miller, seconded Mitchell, that
the Mayor and City Clerk be and hereby are authorized and directed to execute the agree -
mant on behalf of the City, provided same were approved by City Attorney.

The time coming on for the second reading Of Bill No. 19, by Councilman
Mitchell, entitled, "An ordinance providing for the installation and laying of all
plumbing fixtures and material within she corporate limits of the Oity of Caldwell,
Idaho," eta, a motion was made by Mitchell, seconded Sanberg, that the rules be
suspended and the reading on three separate days be dispensed v✓ith and that Bill No. 19
be read the second time by title and the third time in full and placed on its final

The Mayor announced the appointment of Tielen 11. Sovereign as City Treasurer
to fill out the unexpired term of Ethelveyn Portner resigned.
A motion was made by ;ouncilman Ward, seconded Councilman F. it. Miller, that
the appointment be confirmed, ratified and approved. The roll being called on the
motion, the vote resulted:
Ayes - Dickens, :coos J. Miller, F. I. Culler, Mitchell, Banberg,Ward -6.

increase rates, filed with the Public Utilities OommieSioa, the City Attorney was
instructed to enter a proper remonstrance to same and to co- operate with the other
communities in any proper move to defeat the granting of the petition.

The City Attorney was instructed to prosecute suit which had been entered to
Quiet title to Lake Howard.

Messers Fox and Ward of the Boise Valley Traction Company, appeared and
requested that a fre.nchise be granted their Company on North Third Avenue for railroad
purposes. The matter was referred to the City Attorney and City Engineer for investi-
gation and report.
Sidewalk rernosted on 131-in between 13th and 14th.
Mr. John. F. Pemberton appeared and requested that a sidewalk be ordered
on Blain Street between 13th and 14th Avenues and also that a cement crossing be laid
on 13th and Blain. The matter was referred to the Road Conunittse.
