Mr. Ben Dunlap appeared before the Mayor and Council and requested that the
Ackley claim against the City be included in the 1939 -1940 budget. This matter was referre
to the City Attorney.
Moved by Sandmeyer, seconded by Fenrich that the Council recommend the dismissal
of Jack Curley from the Golf.Course. Motion carried.
Moved by Stengel, seconded by Fenrich that the City Engineer and the Water Com-
mittee be authorized to finish the Tennis Court Project and also to provide for a drink*
ing fountain. Motion carried.
The City Attorney was instructed to carry forward to completion the formation of
Improvement District Number 16.
Moved by Fenrich, seconded by Sandmeyer that the City advertise for bids for a
flusher and sprinkler. Motion carried.
Moved by Sandmeyer, seconded by Fenrich that the City advertise for bids for a
I roller and oiler. Motlonc arried.
Moved by Handford, seconded by Sandmeyer that the Water Committee be authorized t
go ahead with the service lines in Improvement District Number 16. Motion carried,
Lill Number 7, Proposed Ordinance No. 557, was read for the second time.
The Mayor appointed the Road Committee and the City Engineer to investigate the
price of crushed rock per yard and repab6 t the next Council Meeting.
Moved by Fenrich, seconded by Sandmeyer that the City renew the Garbage Contract
held by Chas. Robertson. Motion carried.
There being, no further '.:usiness to come before the Council, it was moved by Hand -
ford, seconded by McD that Council adjourn. Motioncarried.

A SpeciAl 1•teating of the Council met in the Council Room with the Mayor, Edgar
L. Oakes, presiding.
On Roll Call the following Councilmen answered present: Oscar Stengel, C. 0.
McDannel, W.B. Handford, G. M. Fenrich and M.S.Sandmeyer. Absent; W.E. Babcock.
The Mayor informed the Council t'nat the Meeting visa called to take up new and
unfinished :usiness.
Mr. 0. E. Mason appeared and petitioned the Mayor and Council to cancel Sevier
Tax on Block 122, Lots 13 -14 and 15, Strahorn Addition, Caldwell, Idaho. After due con-
sideration Vie following Resolution was presented to the Mayor and Council by Councilman';
Fenrich who moved the adoption thereof, which motion was duly seconded by Councilman Mc_

WHEREAS, Mr. 0. E. Mason appeared before the Mayor and Council and petitioned f

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the County Treasurer be and she is hereby
authorized and directed to accent in full satisfaction from the Canyon Abstract Company
the sum of 16.99 and cancel upon their records the penalty and interest and that a copy
of this resolution be certified by the City Clerk of the City of Cald,•rell anddelivgred to
the County Treasurer andbe their authorization for the cancellation thereof and the ac-
ceptance of said mondy.
A Yea and Nay vote was had thereon rith the following result:
Yea= Stancel, VcD,nnel, Handford, Fenrich and Sandmeyer.
Nay: 'None.
Absent and'not voting: Babcock.
Thereupon the Mayor declared the motion carried and the Resolution duly adopted.
Mr. Wayne Hill appeared on behalf of the American Legion and requested permission
to sponsor a carnival and asked that the license fee�bs cancelled.
Mr. S. A. Mendenhall appeared on behalf of the Disabled War Veterans and aequest-
ed the same thing.
Moved by Handford that the organization obtaining; a contract to sponsor the Monte
Young Carnival be granted the permission to sponsor said show and that the license fee
thereof be cancelled, motion seconded by Fenrich.
Thereupon a Yea and Nay vote w as had thereon with the following result:
Yea: Stengel, McD nnel, Handford, Fenrich and Sandmeyer.
Nay: None.
Absent and.not voting; Babcock.
Thereupon the Mayor declared the motion carried and the Resolution duly adopted.
Yr. Finn, Superintendent of the Parks recommended to the Mayor and Council the
employment of Mrs. Mae Stoner to take charge of the play and the play ground equip-
The Mayor authorized Mr. Finn to employ Mrs. Stoner temporarily.
Mr. Elder, representing the Inter- Mowmtain Equipment Co.,, -z*peared and discussed
with the Mayor and Council the purchase of a sprinkler and flusher combined and a roller
and oil distributer, also, the cost of repairing t s old sprinkler.
Moved by Handford, seconded bq McDannel that the City Ebgineer furnish plans and
abecificstions for one 1200 gallon combination sprinkler and flusher, 1600 gallon oil dis-
tributor and one 6 or 7 ton roller and the same be publish in the Caldwell News - Tribune
three times and that the bids be submitted to the City Clerk before B'olclock P. M, June

An Application for Beer License was read from Henry & Howard Quast the fee ac-
companying the application.

The Clerk read a letter from Mr. F. L. Lilly regarding sewer in the alley bask of
his-residence. This letterrms referred to D. K. Beatty.

The Regular Monthly Meeting of the City Council met in the Council Room of the
City H with the Mayor, Edgar L. Oakes, presiding.
On Roil Call the following Councilmen answered present; C. 0, McDannel, Oscar
Stengel, W.E.Babcock, X.8 Sandmeyer and 0. M. Fenrich. Absent: W.B. Handford.
The Minutes of previous meetings were read andapproved as read.

Mr. Floyd Southward and Mr. Robt. Feeley pr ®aerated a petition to the Mayor and
Council petitioning the widening of Main S from 7th Street to 9th Street and
Kimball Avenue from Main to the bridge on Blaine Street. The petition was signed by 805
of the property owners. This matter was discussed and left on the table.
Mr. Handford entered and was marked present.
Mr. M. C.Shade'appeared and asked permission to construct a fruit stand on North
Kimball Avenue,
The Mayor informed Mr. Shade he would have to take this matter up with the Zoning
i Hoard.
Mr. Merriman representing the I.E.R.A. requested the City to continue paying the
rent for the I. E. R. A. Office. This matter was held over until next month.

Messers T.W. Buckingham, Walter syeelman and ,7. w.weeks appeared before the Mayor
and Council and discussed the purchasing of new road equipment and also stated that they
wished to bid on this equipment.
Mr.Finn, Superintendent of the Parks appeared and recommended the purchase of
a tractor for the use of the parks. This matter w as referred to the Park Committee.
The Clerk read a letter from Mr. F.W. Mumford tendering his resignation from
the Library Board.
Moved by Handford, s econded by Babcock that the Council accept this resignation.
Motion carried.
The Mayor appointed MR. W. M. SWING to fill the vacancy on the LIBRARY BOARD.
