HomeMy WebLinkAbout1960-05-09city council minutes7 Upon Roll Call the following Councilmen answered present- N. E. "Coley" Smith, Max Luby, Emile Shorb and Leland Finley. Absent: E. L. Vassar and L. P. Eldredge. The Mayor informed the Council the meeting was called in con:lunetion with the County Civil Defense Air Warning Service Alert. The alert was sounded at 11.15 o'clock A. M. and the Council was called to order at 11.25 o'clock A. M. with a quorum being present. There being no further business to come before the Council it was moved by Councilman Smith, I seonded by Councilman Finley that Council adjourn. Motion carried. Mayor. City Clerk. The Council met pursuant to recess and acknowledgment of notice in the following forma CALL AND ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF NOTICE We, the undersigned Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Caldwell, Idaho, do each hereby acknowledge notice of a special meeting of the City Council, to be held in the Council Chambers in the City Hall in the City of Caldwell, Idaho, at the hour of 11-25 o'clock A. M. on the 3rd day of May, 1960 for the transaction of all business in connection with the following object: Receiving and opening bids on two oars for the Police Department,which object was presented to each of the undersigned inwriting. WITNESS our signatures this9th day 5; May, 1960. Mayor Ed Simmerman presiding. Upon Roll Call the following Councilmen answered present: E. L. Vassar, N. E. "Coley" Smith, Max Luby, Emile Shorb, L.land Finley. Absent: L. P, Eldredge. Mayor Simmerman informed the Council the meeting was called to receive bids on two cars for the Police Department. The following bids were opened and read: Bids Two Police Cars Curt & Hall Plymouth trade -in 1551.00 Chevrolet trade -in 1656,00 Lodge Motor Cc Plymouth trade-in - 1b15.00 Garber Motor Co 1557.00 Plymouth trade -in Chevrolet trade -in 1457.00 Burns Chevrolet 1565.71 Plymouth trade -in Chevrolet trade -in 1391.71 Moved by Councilman Finley, seconded by Councilman Luby the low bids of Burns Chevrolet be ac- 1cepted. Upon Roll C it auneared the motion was unanimously carried. Ord closing alley Chamber of Commerce Thereupon Councilman Finley introduced Bill No. 1, entitled: AN ORDINANCE RECITING THE PASSAGE, APPROVAL AND PUBLICATION OF ORDINANCE 95h, DETERMINING THAT No OBJECTIONS HAVE BEEN PLAD& AND RILED TO THE VACATION OF THE ALLEY ADJACENT TO LOT 26 OF THE INDUSTRIAL - FILE ADDITION SITE RECORD IN THE 0 7I OF THE RECORDER OF CANYON COUNTY, S IDAHO N DETERMINING A THAT 4 THE H CATION OF SAID AND OF CE SAID IS TO THE BEST .INTEREST AMID ADVANTAGE OF THE CITY OF CALDWELL, ITS CITIZENS AND PROPERTY OWNERS; DETERMINIM THAT NO DAMAGE WILL BE SUSTA14ED BY ANY CITIZEN OR PROP'MTY Oi;NER BY REASON OF THE VACATION OF SAID.ALLEYI PROVIDING THAT THE TITLE TO SAID ALLEY AS VACATED SHALL REVERT TO THE PERSONS DEDICATING THE SAME, THEIR SUCCESSORS, HEIRS OR ASSIGNS; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND PRO. VIDING FOR THE PUBLICATIGN OF THIS ORDINANCE AND ITS TAKING EFFECT. which was read for the first time and the douncil proceeded to a consideration of Bill No. 1. It was moved by Councilman Luby, seconded by Councilman Shorb that the rules requiring that the reading of a Bill on three separate days be suspended and that Bill No 1, be read the second time by title and the third time in full section by section and placed on the final passage. The Mayor directed the Clerk to call the Roll on the above motion with the following result: Those voting in the affirmative were: Vassar, Smith, Luby, Shorb, Eldredge and Finley. Negative: None. Absent and not voting: Eldredge. The Mayor declared the motion had passed by the necessary three- fourths majority and directed the Clerk to read Bill No 1, the second time by title and the third time in full section by section. The Clerk read the Bill as directed. The question being "Shall Bill No. 1 pass?" The Mayor directed the Clerk to call the roll on the above question which resulted as follows: Those voting in the affirmative were: Vassar, Smith, Luby, Shorb and Finley. Negative: None. Absent and not voting: Eldredge. Thereupon the Mayor declared Bill No. 1 had passed and the Mayor in open session of the Council duly signed andapnroved the Bill, and the Clerk duly signed and attested the same which became Ordinance No. 955. The Mayor directed the Clerk to make proper entry of the same and to cause Ordinance No. 955, to be, published in the News - Tribune the official newspaper of the City of Caldwell, Idaho. Th being no further business to come before the Coi it was moved by Councilman Shorb, seconded by Councilman Luby that Council adjourn. Motion carried. -.—c/ Mayor. City Clerk.
