HomeMy WebLinkAbout1947-05-08city council minutesAqo RESOLUTION. A P SOLUTION AUTFORIZING THE CANCELLATION OFCERT,IIN SPECIAL CITY TAXES, LEVIED AND ASSESSED AGAINST THE PROPERTY HEREIN DESCRIBED. WHEREAS, The Church of God is the owner of Lots 19 to 24 inclusive in Blocm 40 of the original , Townsite of Caldwell, Idaho. Of that preperty, lots 19 to 22 inclusive were conveyed by Canyon County, 'Idaho to Walter Duagherty on October 23, 19 ,V, and lots 23 and 24 were conveyed by Canyon County, Idaho to James W. Tucker on March 7, 1938. The Church of God is the successor in title to each of those grsntees. The City of Caldwell assessed taxes and assessments against hots 19 to 24 inclusive for the years 1931 to 1935 inclusive for sprinkling and weed cutting, and assessed taxes and assessments against Lots 19 to 24 inclusive for the years 1936 to 1939 inclusive for sprinkling. The total amount of those assessments, with penalty and interest computed to March 1, 1947 amo.utted to $206.65. WHEREAS, IT APPEARS TO THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL that there is a good cause for allowing said petition. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the said assessments be and the same are hereby remitted and l cancelled in accorcance with this said petition and the Treasurer of the City of Caldwell, Idaho, be and he is hereby authorised and directed to charge off and cancel the same upon his books and to issue all the necessary papers and instruments to carry into effect the purpose of this resolution. A "Yea" and "Nay" vote was had thereon with the following result: Yeas Mason, Glaisyer, Myers, j I .Fenrich, Burrell and harding. Nayt Hone. Absent and not voting: None. it Thereupon the Mayor declared the motion carried and the resolution adopted. l There being no further business to come before the Council it was moved by Councilman Mason, seconded by Councilman narding, that Council adjourn. Motion carried. Mayor. City Clerk COUNCIL CHAMBERS, MAY 6th, 1947, 6:15 P. M. The Council met pursuant to Call and Acknowledgement of Notice in the following form. CALL AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF NOTICE We the undersigned, Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Caldwell Idaho do each hereby acknowledge notice of a special meeting of said City Council to be held at the Council Chambers in i the City Hall in the City of Caldwell, Idaho, at the hour of 6 :15 P. On Roll Call the following voted in favor of the Motions Ayes Mason, Glaisyer, Burrell, Wyers, ',Fenrich and "arding. Nays None. Absent and not voting t None. Thereupon the Mayor declared the motion carried* l Contract for audit of City Hooks and Records was presented from Martin Olson, Jr. Moved by Harding, sedonded by Were that this contract be accepted. Motion c arried. Moved by Harrell, seconded by Mason that the contract entered into by the former Council with the General Appraisal Co., be approved. Motion carried. Councilman narding informed the Mayor and Council than the Road Department was in need of a new grader, also, that the olf Austin Western Grader could be turned in and $1200 applied against the purchase I price of a nevi grader. I I The Mayor Authorized Councilman to trade -in the oldgader provided deliver of a new grader could be made within bo or 90 days. Moved by Harding, seconded Burrell that Councilman Fenrich be authorized to $' purchase a ew truck :1 for the Irrigation Department. Motion carried. There being no further business to comebefore the Council, it was moved by Councilman Mason, secondedtV Councilman Myers that Council adjourn. Motion carried. city Clerk. Mayor. The Council not and considered the petitions filed in accordance with Section 17 of House Bill No. 1118 oft he 29th Session of the 19117 Legislature of the State of Idaho. An a xamination of these petitions r disclosed them to be insufficient and not signed by the required percentage of the registered, qualified electors of the City of Caldwell making necessary an election to determine whether or not liquor would be isold by the drink within the City of Caldwell. ` There being no further business to come before the Council it was moved by touncilmas Glaisyer seconded by Burrell that Council adjourn.
