Shorb clerk, when the following business was transacted: r^ The minutes of the April meetings were read and approved. as read. ,. Councilman C. Q. Adams enters. The report of the city engineer was read and, on motion of Zeh, approved and ordEF i ed filed. j Meport of the secretary of the fire department to the council of t he election of C. M. Allen, chief, and Bohn Hollrich, assistant chief, for the ensuing year, was read and on motion of Adams, the election was confirmed and approved. Report of the sexton was read, Voted, on motion of Adam, that the sexton confer with the city attorney and the cemetery committee to the end that a form of report be devised that will. conform to the requirements of the ordinance, and the wishes of the cemetery committeg. I Report of 'he police fudge was read and, on motion of Adam, approved and order - ed filed. Report of the marshal was read and, on motion of Bardsley, approved and order- ed filed, April report of treasurer was read and,on motion of Adams, approved and order - ed filed. r Annual report of the treasurer was read and refeered to the finance committee. 'L Report of the street superintendent was read and, on motion of Adams, approved and ordered filed. Report of the clerk was read and, on motion of Adams, approved and ordered filed. Report of the superintendent of water works was read and, on motion of Adams, approved and ordered filed. Petition of H. L. Williams et.al, praying "that a public road be vacated in said city 50 feet in width having its point of beginning and termination, course and inter - mediate points as follows& Lying between lots 5,6,7,8, and 9, 10,11,12 of Mitchell's acreage, said road not being needed . °or public use" was read and, on motion of Zeh, reffered to the street committee with full power to act. Compton in the sum of $16.50 for merchandise, be allowed on the general fund. Voted, on motion of Zeh, that duplicate warrants be drawn in favor of M. E. 011gan, in the aum of $12.50 and accrued interest to *Lke the place of Road warrant No. 3 02 drawn in favor of Geo. H. Garner, and in favor of A. L. Murphy in the aum of $30.00 and accrued interest, to take the place of road warrant No 286 drawn in favor of 0. Royce, the originals having been lost. The matter of building a foot bridge across Indian creek at Fourteenth Avenue was referred to the street committee. The library committee recommended that the city purchase the four lots at the cornor of Eleventh and Cleveland for he site of the Carnegie library building. The matter of pure' acing a dump ground was referred to the finance committeep on motion of Bardsley. The matter of the extension of he water mains from Main street to Cleveland Boulevard along Aven avenue was, on motion of Adams, referred io the water committee. Bill No. 17, entitled, "An ordinance amending Section 20 of Ordinance No . 160 entitled, "An ordinance defining offenses against the peace and good order of the City of Laldwell, and providing punishment therefor," passed by the city council on tLe 16th day of May and approved by the Mayor on the 17th day of May 1910." was read the second time. Voted on motion of Stunenberg that council adjourn until Friday evening, May 10, 1912, at 8 O'clock.
