M. Hess bid under Item 6 in Bid Schedule "A" changing that amount from $788.80 to $431.80 and under Item 10 of this same Schedule changing that amount from $245.00 to $280.00; making a correction in the total for Bid Schedule "A" from $21,186.42 to $20,864.42. Also, a change in the amount of Item 1 in Bid Schedule "E" r- changing that amount from $483.92 to $483.09; making a correction in the total for Bid Schedule "E" from $2,575. to $2,574.39. City Engineer Mal Lewis then pointed out that the bid for Bid Schedule "D" was over .the .satimate.si far the city couldn't come out on it. He explained that this was for the construction of sewer with the people to be assessed separately but with contingencies of less than the difference. He recommended that this Schedule be thrown out of the bidding with the work to be done by the city. Under Schedule "F", the City Engineer stated that the city had appropriated $1,000.00 to start taking out and renewing some of the previous curbing installed and although the bid was slightly over the estimate, he would recommend that this be left in. Schedule "E" was for concrete work at the new fire Istation. Mr. Lewis informed the Council that, if Schedule "D" was eliminated from the bidding, the total bii by Gray Construction was in an amount of $27,743.59 and the total bid by J. M. Hess was in an amount of $27,801.74. P.fter some discussion; it was moved by Councilman Banks, seconded by Councilman Carpenter, that thi low bid of Gray Construction on Schedules "A", "B", "E", and "F" in the total amount of $27,743.59 be accept) A vote was taken and the motion carried. It was moved by Councilman Banks, seconded by Councilman Davenport, that the meeting recess until j8:00 P. M. on May 15, 1967.
