Gilgan- Sarchett, seeking to prohibit the City of Caldwell from collecting certain sidewalk taxes, was read and ordered filed. Bill No. 26, by Ackley, entitled, "An Ordinance providing for the organization and government of the Fire Department of the City of Caldwell, Idaho, fixing the duties and compensation of its officers and members, prohibiting interference with firemen and fire apparatus in going to, at and returning from fires, providing penalties, repealing Ordinance Ho. 122 and all other ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance and providing a time for this ordinance to go into force and effect ", was read the first time. It was voted on motion of Canberg that Council adjorn until Friday evening iZay 4th., 1917, at 8 o'clock P. Id. f� Mayor of the 7ity of Caldwell, Idaho. Boyes presiding, present, Councilmen Ackley, Dement, Layman, Lemberg, 77ard, City Clerk S. Ben Dunlap, when the following business was transacted: Bill No. 26, by Ackley, entitled, "An ordinance providing for the organization and government of the fire department of the City of Caldwell, Idaho, fixing the duties and compensation of its officers and- members, prohibiting interference with firemen and fire apparatus in going to, at and returning from fires, providing penalties, repealing Ordinance Ito. 122 and all other ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance and providing a time for this ordinance to go into force and effect ", was read the second time. A motion was made by Dement, seconded Ackley, that the rules be suspended and the reading on three separate days be dispensed with and that Bill Ito. 26 be read the third time in full and placed en its final passage. The roll being called on the motion the vote resulted: Ayes - Ackley, Dement, Hayman, Sanberg, Uard -5. idayes -None. Absent - Forbes -1. Five- sixth. of the entire council 'having voted in favor of the motion, the Mayor declared the same carried. I J 152 C in C Bill No. 26 read the third time in full, and placed on -its final passage. On the question shall Bill No. 26 pass? The roll being called the vote resulted: Ayes- Ackley, Dement, Hayman, Sanberg, ''card -5. Nayes -None. Absent- Forbes -1. So Bill No. 26 passed becoming Ordinance No. 279. The clerk read a communication from Martin Luther, ;ity Clerk Payette, inquiring whether the City of Caldwell would sell its sprinkling wagons. The matter was referred to the incoming administration. Relative the communication Councilman Forbes, under date of April 21st., 1917, recommending that the City advertise for bids for construction of bridge over Indian Creek at Third &venue and for widening bridges at Ninth and ''Tenth avenues, it was voted upon motion of Dement, that Councilmen Sanberg and Ward be appointed as a committee to present the matter to the incoming administration. Ben Dunlap, when the follow- ing business was transacted: The minutes of the sessions held April 2nd., 3rd., 9th., 11th., 25th., 26th., 30th., May 2nd. and May 4th., 1917, were read and upon motion of Ackley were approved. The following bills were read. It was voted on motion of Sanberg that the same be approved and that the City clerk be and hereby is instructed to draw warrants on the various funds in payment of the same as follows: GEITEP L FUND S.
