Counoil met in regular session with Mayor Ward presiding; The following ®ounoilmen were present; Dunlap. Fouling, Hayman, Moore and Sutton. Absent Dickens. Dr Gus representing the permanent improvement committee of the Forward and Commercial Club submitted the report of the investigations of Mr Kelsey covering the Sewerage Districts and Indian Creek Channel and on motion Dunlap and seconded by Sutton the report was accepted and committee thanked. The Sprinkling Committee was instruote., to sprinkle the & % 104A road through the College Campus and keep roads to good repair during the time t tah-t Cleveland Boulevards was being paved and instructed to investigate the condition of Blaine Street above 20th. Street. Usti am- made- bj- Daalap- and- see end 94 -by- Batton Mr G H Ackley representing the Directors of the Methodist Church appeared before the Council offering the Methodist Church and grounds for the proposed Legion Building and on motion Dunlap seconded by Fouling same was referred to themoommittee who have this matter in charge. Henry Griffith representing residents of Golden Gate complained of the Ditch which supplies that portion of the City with Irrigating Water having been filled up and the Mayor appointed Sutton and Moore a committee to investigate. On motion Dunlap seconded by Sutton the matter of the application o f the 0 S L Railway to extend their Freight Depot sixty feat was referred to the Building Inspector. Motion was made by Dunlap and seconded by H yman that the Council call a bond election for the purpose of voting bonds in the sum of $95,000.00.for a Soldiers Memorial Building and bonds to the amount of $23,000.00.for the purpose of Funding a part of the outstanding warrant chess of the oitay, the vote on the motion was; p, Fouling, Hayman, Moore and Sutton. IRDINANCE NO 339 CALLING FOR A BOND ELECTION FOR THE PURPOSE D A SOLDIERS MEMORIAL BUILDING IN THE GI2Y OF CALDWELL. was rad ,time and on motion made by Dunlap seconded by Sutton that the an Ordinance on three separate dates be suspended and the be read the second time by title and the third time in full and+ Its final passage. on the roll being oalled on the motion the vote Ayea Dunlap, Fouling, Hayman Moore and Sutton. Absent Dickens. The Clerk thereupon read the Ordinance the seoond time by title and the third tdme in full and the Mayor announced that the Ordinance stood for final passage and on the roll being oalled on the motion shall Ordinance No 339 pass the vote was; Ayes Dunlap, Fouling, Hayman, Moore and Sutton absent Dickens. The Mayor announced that the Motion had carried and the Clerk was instructed to make proper entry and cause same to be published in the Caldwell News the offioila News paper of the City of Caldwell At this time Dr Cole representing the members of the American Legion made an eloquent speech thanking the Mayor and members of the Council for the action taken The minutes of last regular meetings for month of April were read and on motion same were approved as read. A bill of J H Forbes for the sum of $2954.64 was presented for work and material performed in Sewewr District No 6. also a bill for $2311.45 was presented for Mr Forbes by Mr Lockwood City E4fgineer covering this same work the difference being as to whether this was to be force account or extra work under the terms of the contract on motion Sutton seconded by Hayman the lesser amount was prdered paid and the matter if the difference to be taken up and investigated later. ORDINANCE No 340 ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE FUNDING WARRANT INDEBETDNESS was read the first time motion wgsq made by Dunlap and seconded by Moore that the rule requiring the reading of an ordinance on three secerate dates be suspended and that the ordinance be read the second time by title and the third time in full and placed on its final passage, on the roll being called the vote was; Ayes Dunlap, Fouling Hayman Moore and Sutton Absent Dickens. The clerk thereupon read the said ordinance the second time by title and the third time in fall and on the roll being called on the motion shall Ordinance No 340 pass the vote was; Ayes, Dunlap, Fouling, Heyman, Moore and Sutton.
