A motion was made by Farrar that the bid: of Calkind & Lesley be accepted,
and the contract be awarddd to said firm. The roll being called on the motion the vote
resulted:
Ayes -- Clark, Devers, Farrar, Gartin, Paynter - -5.
Hays -- Harris. Absent - -0. So the mothtract:was.6.warded Calkind & Lesley.
Voted, on motion of Farrar, that the time for the opening of bids on the
Improvement and Extension of Water Works system be postponed until Monday May 9, 1910,
and that the City Clerk is hereby directed to change the noticed to read accordingly.
Will IJo; 40, by Farrar, entitled, "An Ordinance sacating and discontinuing
a certainportion of the alley between the Oregon Short Line Railroad track and Albany
Street, and 8ranting to the Oregon Short Line Railroad Company, a corporation, the
right to build and ipaintain a sidetrack on the alley no vacated," was read the first
time.
Voted, nn motion of Gartin, that the Louncil adjourn until April 18, 1910,
at 8p. M.
Monday, April 18, 1910. Council met in regular session pursuant to adjourn-
ment with Mayor Gowen presiding and Councilmen Clark, Devers, Farrar, Gartin, Harris,
$aynter -w- present; Shorb, Clerk.
The time coming on regularly for the opening of bids. for Water Works F
and Special Sewerage Improvement bonds, a motion was made by Farrar that the bids be
rejected and that the Finance Committee together with the City Attorney be vested
with authority to properly advertise and net a date for the selling of all the City
bonds. The roll being called on the motion, the vote resulted:
Ayes -- Clark, revers, Farrar, Gartin, Harris, Paynter -4.
Playa and absent - -0. So the motion prevailed.

A letter from S. A. Kean & Co. relative to the Funding Bonds was read.
A motion was made by Clark that the bondd be prepared and the City Treasurer be
Instructed to send the same together with a eight draft for 010,012.00 and accrued

Bill No. 41, by Farrar, entitled "An Ordinance,to establish a Local Lateral
Sewerage Improvement District in the City of Caldwell, Idaho, to provide for the
appointment of a Sewerage Committee and con - ferring upon them certain powers to
provide for the construction of a system of lateral sewerage and sewerage disposal
works in said Improvement district", was read the first time..

Chas. A. Oakes appeared and asked that the Council order in curbing on
Albany Street from Kimball Avenue to Twelfth .Avenue on-both sides of the street.
A motion was made by Devers that the request of Chas A —Cakea be granted. The roll
being called on the motion, the vote resvlteds

Naya -- Farrar, Harris - -2. Absent - -0. So the motion prevailed.

appeared and asked that the City Council set aside a plat o'
ground from the city cemetery for the use of the Catholics for a burying ground.
Whereupon the matter of platting the cemetery and setting off a portion of the
cemetery for a Catholic burying ground was referred to the Csmetery Committee, to report
at the earliest convenithda.
Ths matter of signing up certain contracts of the Oregon Short Line Railway
for privelege to arose right -of -way for the laying-o!' pipes was brought up and the
proper officers were instructed to sign same.

The matter of compelling the Oregon Short Line Railway to put an aim cushion
in its pipe line to prsvent water hammer was referred to the City Engineer with
power to act.
The matter of requesting the Boise & Interurban Railway Company put its
poles on a line with the Swan Falle Power Co. poles was brought up by the Mayor
who reported that the Railway Ctmpany had placed their poles in accordance with the
ordinances of the city in force at the time the poles were placed, that; while it
had no desire to go to the extra expense of replacing the poles, would do so if the
City Council desired it.
A motion was made by Clark that Ada Merrick be released from weed assess-
ment and penalty amounting to $3.00. The roll being called on the motion, the vote
resulted:
Ayes -- Clark, revers, Farrar, Gartin, Berrie; Paynter -A6.
Nays and absent - -0. 90 the motion prevailed.
A complaint having been filed in the probate coutt charging the marshall
with battery „a motion was made by Revers that the marshall be suspended pending in-
vestigation by the City Council. The roll being called on the motion, the vote
resulted:
Ayes -- Clark, Pavers, Farrar, Gartin, Barrisry Paynbbr - -8.
Nays and absent - -0. So the motion prevailed.
Voted, on motion of Farrar that the Mayor be instructed to advertide for
bide on the laying of sidewalk ordered by Resolutions No. 41 and 42, and for
laying of curb ordered by Resolutions No. 43 and 44, bids to be opened 1&t B p. m.
May 2, 1910.
Voted, on motion of Barrie, that Council adjourn until April 25, 1910 at
