Monday evening, April 15, 1912. Council met in regular session pursuant
adjournment with Mayor Griffiths prVeiding, and Councilmen Adams, Hardaley, 9tunen-
berg, Walker. Zeh, present, whereupon the following proceedings were hads
The plane for lighting the public streets and alleys were submitted by
Us street committee and, upon motion o_ °Zeh, it was ordered that tle proposal be au
matted to the light and power company. -
A report by the library committee was presented and considered and, on
motion of Bardeley, the committee was directed to make reply to the Carnegie Board
and to investigate sites, and report promptly,,.
Representatives of the Qregon Short' Line Railway Co. proposed bat instead
of gates at Fifth and Eighth avenues, some other safeguards against aceidents pr
vided arid, on motion of Walker, the street committee was requested to take the matt
up and secure the necessary safeguards.
Voted, on motion of Stunenberg, that the city attorney be requested to
investigate the acts of the Mountain States Telegraph & Telephone Co, also the nigh
of 'the efty - and its citizens for the purpose of ascertaining whether the telephone
company had violated tle provisions of the franchise under which it operates, and
what remedies there are open to the city and its citizens against extortionate char
ea, inadequate service,and abuses of privileges claimed under its franchise.
The trouble over meter and connection at Hedden's premises with the water
works aystem was referred to the water works -Committee.
Voted, on motion of Adams that council adjourn.
