Council met in regular session with Mayor ward presiding; The folllwing councilmen wero present; 7yn.AM.. Dickens, Dunlap auling Moore and Sutton. Minutes of last regular session were read and on motion same were approved as read, Petition of A L Murphy at al was presented praying for the exten- sion of the water system on Canyon Hill and on motion Dunlap seconded by Moore was referred to the Water Committee. T M Nichol presented a petition of a majority o: the property owners on Blaine Street asking for paving of Bla ine Street and on motion Sutton seconded by Dickens same was taken under advisement and the City Engineer was instructed to prepare estimates and report at nest meeting. Dr Gus representing the Civic, Improvement of the Commercial Club appeared before the Connoil.stating the attituded of the Commercial Club along line of Permanent Improvement, The remarks of Dr Gus were well received by the Council and he was assured that the two bodies should work together for the betterment of conditions in Caldwell at the present time and also for future improvements. A delegation of Ladies headed by Mrs Hawkes representing the local W C T•U asked for better enforcement of the Ordinances regarding Minors frequenting Pool Halle and they were assured that the law was being enforced as rigidly as possible . - Hon T A Walters again appeared before the Council asking that Dearborn Street be narrowed to Thirty Feet but no further action was taken at this time. On motion #J Dunlap seconded by Dickens the bids for the construction were referred to the Building Committee. Motion was made by Sutton and seconded by Dunlap That the dounoil`proosad organization of Sewer Districts No 7 and 8 and that plaas'and specifications r for Sewer No 7 shall provide that same shall empty into lateral No 3 on Paynter Avenue. carried. Ordinance NO 336 was was read the third time. AN ORDINANCE CREATING SEWER DISTRICT NO 8 On the motiom shall Ordinance No 336 pass the vote on the motion was; Ayes Diokens, Dunlap, Fouling, Hayman Moore and Sutton. i Hayes none. The Mayor announced that the ordinance had carried unanamously and the glerk was instructed to make proper entry and cause same tb be published in the ,_Caldwell news the official News paper of the city of Caldwell. , On motion of Hayman seconded by Dunlap the salary of Wm Bischoff was raised w to $4.00 per day. The report of Joe Dickens relative to the condition of the Caldwell Inter urhgn track on Arthur Street betweean 6th, and 9th, streets was read and on motion same was confirmed. Motion was made by Hayman and seconded by Dickens that 0 H Sovereign be appointed Building Inspector at a salary of $75.00 per month and that the City Attorney prepare an Ordinance requiring the payment of a fee for the inspection of buildings. carried. The foliwwing Bills against the city were presented and on motion same were allowed and City Clerk was instructed to issue warrants on the respective funds for same.
