cleaning the same would be about ';100.00.
It was voted on motion of Forbes that the Shank Auto Company be presented a
bill to cover the cost of cleaning the sewer and that they be notified in writing to
discontinue the use of the same for the aforesaid purpose.
Councilman Hayman suggested that the Traffic Ordinance be amended so as to
permit enforcement of the same.
It was voted on motion of Councilman Forbes that Council adjorn until 8
o'clock p.m. Tuesday April 3rd., 1917.

Council meet in regular, session pursuant to adjornment, with Mayor Fred C.
Boyes presiding, Councilmen rrese Ac] =ley, Dement, Forbes, Hayman, Sanberg and Ward,'
S. Ben Dunlap, City Clerk, when the following business was transacted:
Warranty deed conveying to the City of Caldwell a strip of land on Canyon
Hill for road purposes, and executed by F. E. Hunt, Adella A. Hunt, W. B. Allison and
011ie 7J. Allison, reciting a consideration of 0200.00 was presented.
It was voted on motion of Forbes, seconded Dement, that the deed be accepted
and that the Clerk be and hereby is instructed to have the same made of record.
Bill No. 23, by Hayman, entitled, "An Ordinance regulating the speed of
vehicles upon the streets of the City of Caldwell, Canyon County, Idaho, by amending
Section six immediately following section five thereof and sections seven and eight of
Ordinance No. 255, entitled, 'An Ordinance providing for the regulation of traffic on
the streets, avenues, alleys and public places of the City of Caldwell, Canyon County,
Idaho; providing penalties for the violation thereof; and repealing Ordinances No. 124,
196, and 198 and all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith," was read
the first time.
A motion was made by Ackley, seconded Sanberg, that the rules be suspended
and the reading on three separate days be dispensed with, and that Bill No. 23 be read the
second time by title and the third time in full and placed on its final passage. The roll
being called on the motion, the vote resulted:
Ayes - Ackley, Dement, Forbes, Hayman, Sanberg, Ward -6.
Noyes and absent -None.

On the question, shall Bill No. 23 pass? The roll being called, the vote resulted:

Mayes and Absent -None. So Bill No. 23 passed becoming Ordinance No. 277.
Bill No. 24, by Forbes, entitled, "An ordinance calling a special election to
sell certain real- estate belonging to the City of Caldwell ", was read the first time.
A motion was made by Forbes, seconded Ackley that Bill No. 24, be laid on
the table. The roll being called on the motion, the vote resulted:
Ayea- Ackley, Dement; Forbes, Hayman, Sanberg, Ward -6.
Mayes and Absent -None. The Mayor declared the motion carried.
It was voted on motion of Hayman, seconded Ackley to reconsider the motion
passed by the Council April 2nd., 1917, relative the employment and extra man for
fire department.
It was voted on motion of Ackley that Mr. Sovereign, superintendent of
apparatus be authorized and instructed to employ an extra man for the fire department at a
salary of not to exceed V5.00 per month.
Mr. J. H. Lowell, representing the Eivarside Irrigation District appeared
relative the request of hie company for a franchise to construct irrigation ditches in the
north part of the City.
The following resolution was introduced by Councilman Dement;
RESOLUTION.
BE IT eE50LVED, By the Mayor and Council of the
City of Caldwell, That the privilege and authority be and
the same is hereby granted unto the Riverside Irrigation
District to enlarge, extend and construct irrigation
ditches along the line of the present ditch of the
Pioneer Irrigation District from Indian Creek on the north
side of the City of Caldwell, also along the south
easterly side of Block 55, of Foot's Addition, Block 69 of
Dever's Addition, and through the Pump House Block, and along
the south - westerly side of blocks 87, 88, 89 and 90 of the
Golden Gate Addition to the city of Caldwell, as the same
is shown on the plat on file in the office of the City
Clerk, for the purpose of carrying and distributing water
for irrigation purposes within the city limits of the
City of Caldwell.
A motion was made by Dement and duly seconded that the resolution be adopted.
The roll being called on the motion, the vote resulted:
Ayes- Ackley, Dement, Forbes, Hayman, Sanberg, Ward -6.
Nayes and Absent - !tone. The Mayor declared the motion carried and the
resolution adopted.
A motion was made by Forbes, seconded 'Hard, that the Council go on record in
favor of building a rest room and quarters for the Water Users Association on the City's
lot located on Arthur Street. The roll being called on the motion the vote resulted:

Council meet in special sesalon, pursuant to call issued by the Mayor, with
Mayor Fred C. Boyes prealding, present, Councilmen Ackley, Dement, Hayman, Sanberg and
ffard, S. Ben Dunlap, City Clerk, when the following business was transacted;

Dear Sir:
You will please take notice that'I, Fred G. Boyes,
Mayor of the City of Caldwell, Idaho, pursuant to the
authority in me vested, do hereby call a special meeting
of the City Council of said City to be held in the regular
Council room of the City Hall in the said City on the
evening of 'Wonday April 9th., 1917, at 8 o'clock for the
following purpose, to -wit;
Reconsideration of the action taken by the said
Council on the evening of April 3rd., 1917, relative the
request of the Riverside Irrigation District for permission
to use certain streets and property in said city for building
ditches.
You are hereby directed to give notice of the said
meeting as reouired by law.
IN WITNESS - 7HERBOF, I have hereunto put my hand and
seal this 7th day of April, 1917.

Mr. It. J. Devers appeared objecting to the construction of ditches for
irrigation purposes in the north part of the city, stating as his reason that a large
portion of this part of the city was now a swamp and that additional water would be very
injurous to the lands in this section.
Mr. R. B. Seatterrlay, representing Mr. Clinton of Boise, who owns Blocks
59 and 60 also appeared and objected to additional ditches in this section of the City
on the same grounds as those presented Sy kT . Devere.
