The Regular 1,,Onthly ":_eating of the City Council met in the Council Room of the f City 1?e1.1, with the ;, :eyor, Emery L. Vassar presiding. On Roll Call, the following Councilmen answered present: Edgar L. Oakes, W. S. Boynton, C. E. Bales, G. W. I:',ontgowery, G. I,,. Fenrich and :,. 17. Hollingsworth, he &anutes of Larch 5th, 12th and 10th, were read and approved as read. Vern Howard presented a petition :or residents of :iountLin View addition asking that Oak and Maple streets, between Pdontana and College .,venues,be opened to the public. Councilman Bales suggested that the Hoed Committee make a report on the cost of opening these streets. Mr. Oscar Baum appeared before the Council and stated that the City had ddstroye his ditch and asked to have it replaced. 1'he PGayor reques ed the City .,ttorney, City Engineer and Irrigation Committee to make a report on this. The Clerk read an ap.liCa tion for License to sell Beer from G. Munesada. The application was referred to the City .,ttorney. Two Affidavits of Pui,lication were recd by the City Clerk. applications for Poo; Hall Licenses were read fron,eo Franklin and Curtis Ruston, P. A. Martin, I. H. ''raters, S. P. Bow and Lafe Murphy, the fee accompanying each application. Moved by Bales and seconded by Miontgomery that these applications be granted. Motion carried. The City Clerk read a letter from Joseph Wood of Portland, Oregon regarding the purchase of the Right of Way of the Caldwell Traction Company in Mountain View Addition. Motion by Montgomery and seconded by Fenrich that the City Attorney be instructed to gat in touch with Mr. Wood. Motion carried. a letter was read from Mr. E. C. Jones of the Public Utilities Commission. The Bills for March were read and on motion by Bales, seconded by Montgomery that these bills be allowed and rarrants be ordered drawn for the various amounts all of which had been approved by the Chairman of the Finance Committee. The Minutes of April 2nd, were read and approved as read. 0. E. Mason requested the city to repair the street of 3rd and Fillmore. Idr. Vassar advised that this would be taken care of. F. Id. Wilson appeared before the Council Find applied for a Beer and Card Room ]License. !,lotion by Mohtgomery, seconded by Dales that this License be granted. Motion carried._ n Committee from the 20 -30 Club appeared before the Council and discussed the matter of installing public parking places on Plain betwFen 5th and 6th and on Blaine be- tween 7th and 8th. .The Fire Chief submitted his jinnual Report which was placed on file. Mr. McConnel reported that Maple Street from i,ion °.,ana to College .ve., and Oak from College nve., to Illinois could be opened this fall. Motion by Boynton, seconded by Oakes that this report be accepted. Motion carried. 'The Cemetery Committee requested the City Engineer to survey the lots in the Dry Lot Cemetery. l.:r.
