Wheeler, p esent. T.A.Wa tare appeared before the Council and presented a petition, signed by 262 Taxpayers to Council, w ich petflRion reads as follows: 2 We, thi undersigned property owners within the City of Caldwell, respectfully request of the City Coune 1, that no repreeantative of any type of pavement and construction considered standard and accept d by the U.S.Bureau of Public 3oade,be excluded Drom the field of competition, and that Portland C I ment Concrete and Bituminous concrete types be asked for and considered, and that the lowest and best bidder be awarded the contract: No notion was ta':en on the petition. It was voted on motion of Kimbrough, seconded y Mumford, that the'report be accepted. RE OLUTION NO.s18,BY CONLEY, ENTITLED A RESOLUTION COnCURaING IN THE AWARD BY THE COMMISSIOM OF THE DEr RTIMT OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE STATE OF IDAHO, OF THE CONTRACT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE CALD: I, SECTION OF "OLD OPMON TRAIL" FEDERAL AID PROJECT NO.86B, was presented, which resolutL read as f llows: WHEII Ap, heretofore the Commissioner of the Department of Public Works of the State of Idaho, gave publ o notice that bids for the letting of a contract for the construction of pavement odr the Portla d Cement Concrete type on the Caldwell Section of "OLD OREGON TRAIL" Federal Sid Project Edo 8613 would be opened at the office of said Commissioner at two o'clock P.M. on the 26th of Ma ch,1926; and, WHEREAS upon the opening of said bids, Olaf Nelson, of Logan, Utah, bid the a= of $88,412.42 for the oo structionw of such pavingq and was the lowest and best bidder and, WHEREAS the Commissioner of the Department of Public Works of the State of Idaho, awarded the contract f r the construction of such pavement to said Olaf Nelson, subject to the concurring in said award by the City Council of the City, of caldwell,Idaho therefore, be it I RESOLVED BY THE HAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CIDTY OF CALDWELL, IDAHO: SECTION I. That the City Council of the City of Caldwell,Idaho, does hereby concur ii the award of the contract by the Commissioner of the y epartment of Public Works of the State of ' Idaho, to Olaf Nelson, for the sum of 488,412.42 for the laying of the pavement of the P rt- land Cement- Concrete type on the Caldwell Section of "OLD ORGEON TRAIL" federal Aid rro eot No. I 86B. A motion was made by Conley, seconded by Kimbrough, that Resolution No. 18 be adopt j The,14aycr caused the Clerk to @all the roll on the motion, resulting as follows- AYES: CONLEY, DUTTON, RM BOUGH, IMMFORD, TACCO©NEL, AND 7 nMLER. NAYES AND ABSENT: NONE. So the Mayor decalred the motion prev&dled and Resolution No. 18 adopted. It was voted on motion of Eimbrough, seconded by Wheeler, that the Clerk be directed to - write the Cnmmissiober of Publue "forks of the ° 6hte of Idaho, requesting him to have the paving started at the Boise River and go to Boise Avenue, comprising the first unit. It was voted on motion of Mo''onnel, secondee by Dutton, that the Commissioner of Public Works of the 6 tate of Idaho, be requested to use ::'ire Netting instead of Lumber for the Guyed Rail j for 700 feet along the bluff, leading from Boise Avenue to the Boise River.
