Hall; President of V-0 Colle -e of L.la+ Moved by Tlornocl -, seconded by Mason that t letter be spread on the M'nutes. Voti carried, I 119 arch 9, 1946. Mayor George Crookham Caldwell, Idal'o. Dear Mr. Crookham; The College of Idaho has requested ttiesbandonment of the following streets: 23rd Avenue from its Junction with lazel 9treet to its intersection with Cleveland Boulevard. 23rd Avenue from Its Intersection with Ohio Avenue to its d intersection with Ash Street. Hazel Street from its intersection with Mich- igan Avenue to its intersection with Indiana Avenue. Michigsn Avenue from its intersection with Hazel Street to Its intersection with 23rd Avenue. In order to make adequate provision for traffic, we propose changes as are described below. That Otio Stre. -the widened at its resent p Junction with 23rd Avenue by means of eliminating the parking on the r_latc -•ley Hall side w`.ioh would provide a turn into *Iazel street of about seven tenths degrees per foot In the mirtdle of the street, or a radius of curvature of about eighty feet. At the inter- section of ordinary forty foot streets, the curvature for a right angle turn is about one and four tenths degrees per foot or a radius of forty feet. The turn we are proposing is only a bout half as sharp as that of an ordinary street intersection. We would remove the cypress trees In front of Blatchley H which now constitute a hazard for traffic turning from Ohio into Hazel. we further propose the widening of "szel Street to a forty foot roadway from its intersection with Ohio to its intersection with Michigan Avenue. We propose that at this point Michigan Avenue make a forty -fove degree turn and run parallel to the present 23rd Avenue until it intersects Cleveland at right nnrles. This new section of Michi an Avenue would 6 have a forty foot road way between curves. This would make it the same width as Cleveland. The College of Idaho agrees to meet all coats of the above proposed changes. The College_ further agrees to make these changes before any of the abandoned streets are closed to traffic. 710 Wish to thank the City administration for its inter^st and cooperation in this matter and hope that the a bove proposals will meet with your approval. Cordially yours, !VH :jam '9illism '.7. Hall, Jr., This being the time set for the third reading of Bill No 21.
