The Mayor took up the matter of purchasing City Teams for the road work and
City Sprinklinh, stating that in Lis opinion a consideralle savivng v;ould result to the
City if they owned their own teams. He submitted a report showing that the City had
expands4 n the last r 02,515.30 fur extra team hire, and that the labor fur sprinkling
for the / season of 1913 had cost x'1296.40 The matter was discussed and action on the same
delayed until the next meeting night.
The assistant city engineer submitted plans and sheeifications for a steel
bridge on Tenth Street, a foot bridge across Riverside Canal on cemetery rath, and a
Filing bridge on t. first street. It was voted uopn niotion of Parrington that the
plan for the foot Lridge over riverside canal be accented and that the n'ngineer be ins-
tructed to build the same at a cost of not to exceed ' 5.00 and that the plans of the
steel bridge over tenth street, and of the riling bridge ovor twenty first street be
referred to a corrmittee to be appointed by the Mayor. The com:rit.tee also to investigate
the advisability of building the said bridges at this time, and to report to the council
at the next meeting. The N:ayor arpolttted Ackley, Boone, and Harrington.
The en6ineor reported that the wagun bridge over the riverside canal mras in
very bad share and that a new bridge would noon be necesnary, He stated that tle county
cor.rnincioners were willing to stand one half the expense of a new bridge. The matter was
referred to the bridge currarittee.
It was voted upon mution of Harrington that the council adjourn until Monday
evening March 18tl , at ?,30 o'clock P.M.

Council met in regular session pursuant to adjotnment with Mayor C.H.Turner
presiding, councilmen Ackley, Adams, Boone, Harrington, Parker and Steunenberg, S. Ben
Dunlap, Clerk, when the followihh business was transacted:
A letter was received from the secretary of the Public Utilities Commission
under date of March 5th. and enlosing a copy of a notice served upon certain electrical
corporations, operating in southern Idaho, fixing the rates to be charged by the said
corporation, for electrical current, after April let.,1914, ordering the said corporations
to appear before the Commission March 27, 1914, and show cause why said order should not
becume effectiver The said order also provided that a notice of the meoting be served
upon the cities and villages now being sulplied by the corporations no that the snid
cities and villages may have an opportunity to be represented at the said meeting.
The matter avus discussed by the council, and it was the sense of the council
that as tt.e new rates as provided in the order would be a considerable advance on the
rates that we are now paying and there all caring to the council no justifiable reason
why the said rates should be so advanced, that the proposed change would be very i1sp-
leasing to the business 'Interests and inhabitanta of this city.

that the names and limits of the Fire districts be printed in card form, and that one of
the said cards be placed with every telepl,une in the City. It was voted upon motion of
Harrington that the matter be referred to the Fire Committee with power to act.

WFVRFAS there are certain funds now in the " Sevier fund " and in the fund of
Lateral Sewer District Nu. 1, and
"!IT'RFAS all the moneys in said funds appear to belong to the general fund of
the City and are now available fur the purpuse of redeeming uutstanding 'warrants of the
City.
NOT THFRT? 'Be it resolved that the City Treasurer be hereby instructed to
transfer all of the moneys in the funds aboved mentioned to the warrant redemption fund.

It was voted upon motion of Steunenberg that the Certificates be granted as
requested, and that the u,attor be referred to the Fire Committee fur attention.
Mr. R.D.9catterday, attorney fur tl.e Short Line appeared relative to the matter
of City water or his client.o, He stated " that his company had received an offer from
the water department of a flat rate of 160.00 per month fur city water, and that this
sum was a ratical advance over the rate which the cumpany had been paying under the five
year cdntrart witb the city, which recently expired; He stated that the Company thought
the offer pruhibitive, but that they had intimated to him that they would be willing to
pay x'40.00 par month, and advanced of 02.50 per munth over the old rate. "
The matter was referred to the Orator Cummissluner.
The City Attorney stated that he had received several complaints on the cunditic
of the Short Line switch, located in the alley back of the Idahu Implement cumpany store,
the same not being level with the street grade.

Councilman Adarns took ur the matter of granting p-wermission to the Auto Eng-
ineer to use the rooms, wLich wuuld soon be vacated by the City Library, as a light house -
keeping apartment. He stated that the ruurrs could be fitted up at nmall expense for this
purpose, and tl!at by alluwing the Engineer to uccupy the same the axpense of emrloying

meet the requirements u£ the fire underwriters it wuuld mill be necessary to have two
men avilable as trivers fur the autu, but tkat by adulting this method, the extra man

divided 4u as to provide ufficea for the City Treasurer and the County Farm Advisor.

that it seemed to be desired that the city should provide offices for the county advisor

Creenleaf Cumrreri.cal Club comrlaining of tl -e weights -&iah the farmers received on the
different scales in this pity, and requeeting that the City install a public realea.
The Vayor was requneted t answer the Fetter, assuring the citizens of that community
that the city iii nut object to rutting in tLe scalar, but, that the council dvas of the
opinion that the Iresent scales wuuld be just as satisfactory if tested out by the State

Councilman Steunenberg stated that he had received several requests that the
City Authorities 1ut a stop to the indiscriminate ringing of balls at all Lours of the
night by the scLoul cl.11dren. It was voted upon motion of Ackley that the Chief of Pulic
be instructed to abate the nuisance.

to have all the dead trees removed from the streets and to nutify the property owners
to trim all trees along the street line,
The Police were also instructed to enforce the urdinaances in regard to the
heigth of awnings, required on uuildings, ordinance in regard to speed of automobiles
in town, and lengtl, of time autus are allowed to stand on lfain Street, and the ordinance

The bridge committee recurmnended that a liling bridge be constructed over I
Creek, on Plet Street as a cost nut to exceed 1300.00.
The assistant City Engineer stated that he would be able to get the piling
from the county at about '.0 0 ter foot, also that lie thought the. city could arrange to
rent the cuunties piling machine.

No action was taken in the matter.
The ?:'ayur stated that he :pas of the opinion that the city should endevur to
get hold of another team, that Le had received an offer of a team of mules that in his
opinion mere well adapted fur the cities use, and that probably he might be able to trade
our team rur the mules.
It was voted ulun motion of Ackley that the Mayor be authorized to look into
the matter and that hu be given power to act.
It was voted upon motion of Ackley that council ad,jorn until Monday evening
