Councilman Weick informed the Mayor and Council that negotiations were under way between the Civil Defense of Idaho and the City of Caldwell for installation of two way radio for the City of Caldwell Fire lDepartment. There being no further business to come before the Council it was moved by Councilman Blomquist, ' seconded by Councilman Burrell. Motion carried. The Council met pursuant to call and acknowledgment of notice to the following form: We, the undersigned Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Caldwell, Idaho, do eadb hereby acknowledge notice of a special meeting of said City Council to be held at the Council Chambers in the City Hall in the City of Caldwell, Idaho, at the our of 8:00 o'clock P. M. on the 8th day of March, 1954, for the transaction of all business in connection with the fallowing object: Opening of Bids for con- struction of Sewer in Improvement District # 22. which object was submitted to each of the undersigned in writing. Burrell presided. Upon Roll call the following Councilmen answered present: Burrell,: Eggers, Weick.,Eldredge and Bettis. Absent: Fran Blomquist. This being the time set by notice for receiving of bids for construction of a sewer system in Improvement District Number 22. One bid was received as follows: C. L. Strang 7,244.00 This bid was examined by the Council. RESOLUTION BY COUNCILMAN ADOLPH EGGERS Moved by Eggers, seconded by Eldredge that the following Resolution be adopted: WHERFAS C. L. Strang of Nampa, Idaho has presented a bid in the amount of $ 7,244.00, for the construction of a sewer system in Local Improvement District Number 22, and WHEREA5 it appears to the best advantage of the City of Caldwell to accept this bid. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk on behalf of therCity of Caldwell be authorized to execute a contract agreement with C. L. Strang for laying sewer in Local Improvement District Number 22. Upon Roll Call those voting in the affirmative were: Burrell, Eggers, Weick, Eldredge'and Bettis. Negatives None. Absent and not votingr Blomquist. Thereupon the Acting Mayor declared the motion carried and the Resolution adopted. The Acting Mayor announced the appointment of LaMoins O'Donnell as Poundmaster on the Police Department. � J I I Moved by Eggers, seconded by Eldredge that this appointment be confirmed. City Clerk J Acting Iryor. CCUNCIL CHAMBF-IS APRIL 5th, 1954, 8:00 P. M. The Regular Monthly Meeting of the City Council met in the council Rooms of the City Hall, with the Mayor Jason C. Smith, presiding. Upon Roll Call the following Councilmen answered present: Fran Blomquist, L. E. Burrell, Adolph Eggers, Ernest Weick, L. P. Eldredge and J. M. Bettis. Application for Liquor License was read from Frank Maenaka, the fee accompanying the Application. Moved by Eggers, seconded by Blomquist that.this License be granted. Upon Aoll Call it appeared the motion was unanimously carried. The Mayor informed the Council a Regional Fire Conference for Senior "ire Officers was to be held in Portland, Oregon, April 23 -24, 1954, under the conbined sponsorhip of the Bureau of Disaster Relief and Civil Defense, Portland; the Oregon State Civil Defense Agency and Region 7 of the Federal Civil Defense Administration and recommended that Fire Chief Waldo Paddock attend. Moved by Weick, seconded by Burrell that Fire Chief Waldo Paddock be authorised to attend this conference. Upon Roll Call it appeared the motion was unanimously carried. The Mayor announced the appointment of Donna Hill as Policewoman on the Police Department. Moved by Burrell, seconded by Blomquist that this appointment be confirmed. Upon Roll Call it appeared the motion was unanimously carried. The following letter was read for Leland I. Deals Caldwell, Idaho "arch 31, 1954 A statement was made at a noon luncheon the other day which aroused sp curiousity and I have made the following finding of facts: - (1) At the Caldwell Municipal Airport twenty -five (25) planes are housed or tied down. (2) During the month of + 1954, thirty -five (35) visiting aircraft not of Caldwell Vicinity were visitors of our Airport. These included planes- from the following citiess- Pocatello, Idaho, Port Orford, Washington, Ely, Nevada, Madras, Oregon, Portland, Oregon, Grangeville, Idaho, Cortez, Colorado, and a ship from Chkcago, Illinois, as well as ships from Weiser, Parma, Nampa, Boise and Ontario, Oregon.
