Nay: None, Absent and not voting: None. Whereupon the Mayor declared the motion carried and the preamble and resolu- tion duly adopted. Mr. Frank Baird and Mr. Don �paugy appeared before the Mayor and O ouncil and explained the Recreation Program. This matter was taken under advisement. Mr. H. J. McNeal appeared before the Mayor and Council regarding the repairs on the Engle property. This matter was left up to the City,Engineer, City Attorney, Counci man Oakes and the Road Committee. 11r. Hugh Ackley appeared before the 1:iayor and Q ouncil and asked assistance from the Road Department in removing some large stumps. This matter was left up to the City Engineer; City Attorney, Councilman Edgar L. Oakes and the Road Committee. An Application for Beer License was read from Robt. Irwin & W.E. Collins, the fee accompanying the application. Moved by Oakes, seconded by Babcock that this license be refused and that the County and State be notified of this refusal. Motion carried. There being no further business to come before the Council, it was moved by Hinds, seconded by Fenrich that Council adjourn. Motion carried. Mayo , City Clerk. The Minutes of February 7th., 23rd., and 28th .,were read and approved as read. Mr. Elrod appeared before the Mayor and Council -on behalf of the Self -Eelp Soup Kitchen and asked for help from the 81ty. This matter was referred to the Chief of Police. The Bills for February mere read and on motion by Fenrich, seconded by Babcock that these Bills be allowed and Warrants be ordered drawn for the various amounts all of which had been approved by the Chairman of the Finencc Committee. On Roll Call the following Councilman answered present, Edgar L. Oakes, F. D. Mumford, W. S. Boynton, W. E. Babcock, G. 19. Fenrich and Norvil T. Hinds. Absent; None. Mr. Stewart Maxey appeared in behalf of W. E. Collins asking for £eer and Card Room License and Mr. Collins i;eing present he gave his views. Mr. Hollingsworth advised these gentlemen that the Council would take this matter under advisement. Mr. Finley of the Finley Poster Advertising Co., appeared in regards to a bill - bonrd at corner of Plinth and Blaine which was left up to the Road Committee and City -Png- �� ineer. Mr. Tatum appeared in regards to cancellation of delincuent taxes on Lots 1 -2 -3 and 4, Block 194 Gonndu Addition. After some discussion Mr. Hollingsworth informed Tor. Tatum that the Council would take this under advisement. Mr. Will Milliner was present a nd asked for a Card License at his place of business on North Kimball. Mr. Hollingsworth advised Mr. Milliner that the Council would take this under advisement. i Mr.A.E. Sutton and ? Kimbrough appeared in behalf of the Retail Merchants I Association concerning tre peddlers n­isance. After a lengthy discussion the Mayor in- I I formed Mr. Sutton that if the Retail Merchants Association would appoint a committee to work with the City Attorney they wouldtry and work out some plan.. Mrs, Young gave a report on the conditions and progress of the Z5oup Kitchen. Mr. Purser Ttvst a peered in regards to the closing at 12 orclock P. M., as re- quired by the Beer Ordinance and the Mayor informed Mr. Frost that he would have to abide by the O rdina_n.ce. The matter of License for i ?r. Collins and "'r. Milliner wen taken up again and it was moved by Councilman Oakes, seconded by Councilman Boynton that these Licenses be 1 ` refused. i On Roll.
