The City Council met pursuant to a published notice,for the purpose of opening the Bids for 15,000 gallons of gasoline, with the Vayor Edger L. Oakes, presiding. On Roll Call the following Councilmen answered present: W.E.Babcock, C. 0, Me- L Danner, W.B. Handford, G. M. Fenrich and M.S. Sandmeyer. Oscar Stengel. W. R. vanSlyke representing the Christian Church of Caldwell appeared and requested a five-year lease from the City on Block 24 , hots 13 & 14 , Golden Cate Addition. This matter was left on the table. There being no further business to come before the Council it was moved by Sandmeyer, seconded by Fenrich that Council adjourn. Motion carried. Mayor. ` City Clerk. The Minutes of Feb 5th, and 19th. were read and approved pproved as read, 1,4essers C. H. Busse and F. M. Brown appeared and requested permission to plat I Block 4e, Dorman Lake View Addition. Mendenhall representing the World War.Dfsabled eterafns requested police protection for school children while crossing streets. The Psayor informed these gentlemen that the Police would cooperate -with the schools in this matter. Mr. Hugh .4ckley requested the City to have the corral cleaned on the J. P. Soh son Estate. This matter was referred to the Chief of Police. If the sidewalks are not repaired within the time hersinbefore mentioned, by the owner or owners of the property fronting or abutt- ing on the said sidewalks, then the City of Caldwell, Idaho, shallrepair the same by con- tract let to the lowest bidder, and the cost of the repair shall be levied and assessed by the City Council against tYe property adjacent to and /or fronting and abutting on said repaired sidewalk in accordance with Ordinance No. 148 as by Ordinance No. 554 Of the City of Caldwell, Idaho, 1. Thereupon the Mayordeclared the motion carried and the Resolution duly adopted. Thereupon the following Resolution ;vas presented to the Mayor and Council by Councilman Fenrich, who moved the adoption thereof which motion was duly seconded by Councilman Stengel. Resolution By Fenrich. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CANCELLATION OF CERTAIN SPECIAL CITY TAXES, t9VIED AND ASSESSED ALAINST TEE PROFTRTY HEREIN DESCRIBED. WHEREAS, Dora E.Smith is the owner of Lots one (1) and Two (2)' of *Block 48 of Original Addition to She City of Caldwell, Idaho, as shown by the official plat thereof on file and of record in the office of the Recorder of Canyon County, State of Idaho; and 7MEREAS, Special City Taxes for the years 1932, 1933 1934- 1935 -1936- 1937 -1938- 1939, to -wit Sprinkling, Weeds and Tree Spraying are unpaid and delinquent, and WHEREAS, It has been determined by the ffiayor and Council of the p ity of Caldwell, Idaho, that it is for the best interests of the City that one -half of the Sprinkling, weeds and Tree Spraying taxes for the said years, together with all penalties, charges and in- t<rest thereon be cancelled, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That one -half the Sprinkling, weeds and Tree Spr taxes, together with all charges, penalties and interest thereon assessed against said property for the years 1932 to 1939 inclusive be, and the sameare hereby cancelled and said Lots be, and the same are relieved from liability for the payment thereof. A Yea and Nay vote was had thereon with the following result; Yea; Babcock, Stengel, Sandford, IjcDannel, Fenrich and Sandmeyer. Nay: None. Absent and not voting; None. Thereupon the Mayor declared the motion carried and the Resolution adopted. RESOLUTION By Fenrich. WHEREAS, the City Council deems it advisable to purchase land,for a Sewerage Disposal Platt for the City of Caldwell, MM -REAS, John Griffith has offered a tract of land west of Caldwell and near the E � Boise river, wnicn tract is a aesiranie size ror saia aisposai plant, NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Caldwell enter into negotiations with John Griffith for the purchase of said land for a sewerage disposal plant. A Yea and Nay vote was had thereon w ?.t' the following result; Yea Bat -cock, McDannel, Stengel, Hnndford, Fenrich and Sandmeyer. Nn : None. Absent and not voting: None. COUNCIL CFA"!BEF.S , MARCH 11th, 1940, 4.30 p.M. A Special Meeting of the City Council met in the Council Room with the Mayor, Edgar L. Oakes, presiding. On Roll Call the following Councilmen answered present; W ;E;Bdi;cock, C. 0. Me- Dannel, Oscar Stengel, G. M. Fenrich and M.S.Sandmeyer. Absent: WI.B. Handford. The Mayor read a letter from W. H. Hill requesting the City to send a representa- tive to the Aeronautic Meeting at Spokane. The Mayor appointed Mr.Fred McConnel as the City Representative and the said City to pay the expenses. Thereupon the following resolution was presented to the vayor and Council by Councilman Babcock, who moved the ndontion thereof which motion qas duly seconded by Counci man Sandmeyer. RESOLUTION, By Babcock, W!MFEAS, its ppears from the report of the Building Inspector that E. L. Mathews has moved a frame dwelling of the vslue -of lass than .x,100, into "6" Zone without the per- mission of said Building Inspector, and, WHTTZAS, the said building is loc ^ted on Lots 1C -11 and 12 Block 39, Original Townsite of Caldwell in the County of Canyon, and, TIFEREAS, the said dwelling does not comply with the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Caldwell, 11077, T "?EREOFRE 7E IT R- S^'_77D, that the City Attorney institute action against the said E. L. M a thews to prohibit him from iaintaining said dwelling on said property and for the further purpose of removing said dwelling from said premises. A Yea and May vote was had thereon with the followingresult; Yea: Babcock, TIeDannel, Stengel, Fenrich, Sandmeyer. Nay: None. Absent and not voting; Handford.
