M. Motion carried. City Clerk. COUNCIL CHAMBERS, FEBRUARY 23rd., 1938. B :CO P. M. A Specidl Meeting of the City Council met in the Council Room with the Mayor, W.R. Hollingsworth Presiding. on Roll Call the following Councilmen answered present: Edgar L. Oakes, F. D. Mumford, RV. S. Boynton, W. E. Babcock, G. M. Fenrich. Absent: Norvil T. Hinds, The Park Commission met with the Mayor and Council and Mrs. R. B. Scatterday and Mr. S. B. Gowen outlined their plans for the planting of trees and shrubbery in North Park and Memorial Park. Mr. V '. H. Quaintance presented a petition to the Council requesting that illinol Street betwwen Alder and Beech Streets be put in condition for traffic. This matter was referred to the City Engineer and the Road Committee. Applications for Beer License were read from P. W.Frost and Bill milliner, the fee accompanying each application. . Moved by Fenrich, seconded by Oakes, that these licenses be granted. Motion carried. Thereupon W. P. A.Contract 9500 P 165 - 92- 1502 was presented to the Council and after due consideration the following Resolution was presented by Counci Babcock who moved the adoption thereof, which motion was duly seconded py Cguneilman Fenrich, RESOLUTIOTT. BE IT RESOLVED, that the Pdayor and Clerk of the City of Caldwell be and they.- are hereby authorized and directed to execute on behalf of the City contact for W. P. A. Project.9800 P 165 -92 -1502. A Yea and Nay vote was had thereon with the following result: Yea: Oakes, Mumford, Fenrich, Boynton and Babcock. Nay: None, Absent and not voting: Hind.-. Whereupon the Mayor declared the motion carried and the Resolution duly adopted. The Clerk read a letter from R. E. Stewart. This matter was left on the table. There being no further business to come before the Council it was moved by Babcock, seconded by Mumford that Council adjourn. Motion carried, City Clerk. COU?'.OIL CHAMBERS ° FEBRUARY 28th., 1938. 8:00 P. M. Pursuant to adjournment of the Regular Monthly Meeting held on February 7th., 1938, the Council met in the Council Rooms with the Mayor, W. R. Hollingsworth, presiding. I 0 i ! I On Roll Call the following Councilmen answered present. Oakes, Mumford, Boynton Fenrich, Babcock and Hinds, Absent; clone, Whereupon the Mayor stated the purpose of the meeting was,to sell certain real estate heretofore advertised for sale at this time. The proof of Publication of Notice of this lala was read by the Clerk and filed. Notice of Sale of said Real Estate as so pub- lished was read by the Clerk and the property offered for sale. 1 Catherine Walls bid the sum of $225 for the following described real estate, who being the highest and best bidder was declared to have purchased the property which said real estate was described as follows; Block Eighty -Nine (89) of the Mountain View Addition of the City of Caldwell, according to the Official Plat thereof, now on file and of record in the Office of the Recorder of Canyon County, Idaho; Thereupon the following described real estate to -wit; Lot Twenty -two (22) of Block Twenty -nine (29) of the Original Town (now City) of C according to the Official Plat thereof, now on file and of record in the office Of the Recorder of Canyon County, Idaho; was offered for sale, R. X. Beatty bid the sum of $10.00 and the sum being the highest and best bid and n. K. Beaaty waa declared to be the purchaser thereof. Whereupon the following Preamble and Resolution was presented by Councilman Oa]res, who moved the adoption thereof, which motion was duly seconded by Councilman Hinds. RESOLUTION. By Oakes. WHEREAS, the Mayor and City c ouncil, of the City of Caldwell, Idaho, by proper resolution heretofore passed, determined to sell certain real property belonging to the City of Caldwell which was not acquired or used as a public park, playground or public building, and not needed for municipal purposes; and, W1M the notice of intention to sell said real estate and calling for bids on said real estate has been published in the Caldwell News - Tribune, the official newspaper of the City of C for two(2) successive weeks, as is required by Section 49 -1007, I. C. A.; and WHERTAS, Catherine ?!Jells has bid the su. of $225.00 for the following described real estate situate in Caldwell, Canyon County, Idaho, to -wit; Block Eighty -Nine (B9) of the Mountain View Addition of the City of Caldwell, according to the Official Plat thereof, now on file and of record in the Office of the Recorder of Canyon County, Idaho; andshe being the -t" highest and beat bidder and the said bid being the highest and best bid received therefor, and, WIi=AS, R. K. Beatty bid the sum of $10,00 for the following described real estate situate in Caldwell, Canyon County, Idaho, to-wit- Lot Twenty -two (22) of Block Twenty -nine (29) of the Original Town (now City) of Caldwell, according to the Official Plat thereo, now on fiel and of record In the office of the Recorder of Canyon County, Idaho; and he being the highest and best bidder and the bid being the highest and best bid, there- fore, ,and, NOW TRFI2EFORE, BE IT RESOVF.D, That the bid of the said Catherine Wells.in the sum of $,"225.00 for the property first hereinabove described be and the same. Is hereby accepted and that the bid of the said P), K. Beatty for the property second hereinabove descrfbed be and the same is hereb;, accepted. That the Mayor and City Clerk of the City of Caldwell be and they are hereby authorized and directed to execute proper deeds and instruments of conveying title to Sala real essase so sae Sala respective purenasers. A Yea and Nay vote was had thereon with the following result: Yea: Oakes, Mumford, Boynton, Fenrich, Babcock and Hinds, Nay: None. Absent and not voting: None. Whereupon the Mayor declared the motion carried and the preamble and resolu- tion duly adopted. Mr. Frank Baird and Mr. Don Jpaugy appeared b afore the Mayor and C ouncil and explained the Recreation Program, This matter was taken under advisement. Mr. H. J. MaKeel appeared before the Mayor and Council regarding the repairs on the Engle property. This matter was left up to the City.Engineer, City Attorney, Counci man Oakes and the goad Committee. Mr. Hugh Ackley appeared before the Mayor and C ouncil and asked assistance from the Road Department in removing some large stumps. This matter was left up to the City Engineer; City Attorney, Councilman Edgar L. Oakes and the Road Committee, An Application for Beer License was read from Robt. Irwin & W.E. Collins, the fee accompanying the application. Moved by Oakes, seconded by Babcock that this license be refused and that the County and State be notified of this refusal. Motion carried. There being no further business to come before the Council, it was moved by Hinds, seconded by Fenrich that Council adjourn. Motion carried. Mayor City Clerk. The Minutes of February 7th,, 23rd., and 28th .,were read and approved as read, Mr. Elrod appeared before the Mayor and Council-on behalf of the Self -Help Soup Kitchen and asked for help from the Oity. This matter was referred to the Chief of Police, The Bills for February viers read and on motion by Fenrich, seconded by Babcock that these Bills be allowed and Warrants be ordered drawn for the various amo•.ants all of which had been approved by the Chairman of the Finance Committee.
