I -nho. A itiill and thoro „gh disenssion wn held on the total matter of encroachment to the South -east
of the runway. The following conclusiona ,.sere reached.
1 -- If an- future federal aid is to he obtained this area must be protected and that some definite
action toward this goal mist .,e taken b- the pity.
a. Py nrior a ?reerent w / for vederal F`nnds usod on the Airnort the l %ity is committed to
protect the annroaches.
2 -- The fact. that , re i %ave a lighted runway increases the hazard of ni oht flying in the ,rea concerned
i that it ro ^wires a flatter annroach angle and a - realer safety factor in night flying.
3-- Possible liability in c_se of accident in this hazardous area because of permitting home ornstruct.
ion in the area.
h -- Any n,nstrnct.ion in this area would of necessity be piecemeal and that if the necessary restriction
were enforced 'ruildi.ng costs wo,;ld he considerably increased and could be prohibitive,
S -- - Ptrichions ? onlied world nractically nraclude any — nst,,,ct.ion.
6 -- °ecause of the nresent inv?stment, and the fact that not'inp in the foreseeable fut,:re 7iv-s hope
of moving, wo musL by -very means possible protect the present, facility.
7 -- The fact that it is not impo =sible or improbshle, to extend to the Northwest someday at a lower
cost than moving lends credence to this zoning.
