SPECIAL MEETING
February 17, 1977
7:30 P.M.
The Meeting was called to order by Mayor Pasley..
The Roll of the City Council was called with the following
members,,present: McCluskey, Olesen, Williams, Raymond,
Banks, and Bauman. Absent: none.
(PUBLIC HEARING - 1977 REVENGE SHARING BUDGET)
The Mayor explained that the law required that a Public Hearing
be held for the purpose of receiving input into the preparation
of its 1977 Revenue Sharing Budget. The Public Hearing was
scheduled for tonight in the Council Chambers and was so
advertised in the local newspaper on February 5, 1977. After
receiving the input tonight, the entire revenue sharing budget
will be presented to the Caldwell City Council on March 1, 1977.
The Mayor then declared the meeting open for the public hearing
and stated that anyone was welcome to make suggestions to the
City Council.
The Mayor recognized Gene Bevan irhoasked.if there was a list
of what was available so they could make suggestions.
The Mayor answered that it could be used for practically
anything as long as it was for the benefit of the City and its
citizens.
The Mayor then recognized Lamar Bollinger who asked if it
would be possible for some of these funds to be used for the
renovation of the old Jefferson School.
Mr. Len Day was recognized and inquired if some of the funds
could be used for the Senior Citizens. He specifically
mentioned that a bigger and better bus would be one consideration.
A representative of the Beautification Commission, Shirley
Conger, was = and stated that she was asked to present
three suggestions from that Commission. The projects were as
follows:
1. Completion of one of the sections of the bike path.
2. Design and engineering for the proposed railroad
depot project.
3. Design and implementation funds for a City arboretum.
The Mayor then recognized Dr. Richard Roberge who stated he
was in attendance as a representative of the Swim Team Parent's
Association. Dr. Roberge said that they felt that Caldwell had
a definite need for a year round swimming facility, not only
for the youth, but for all ages. They felt that it could be
used for competitive swimming, in conjunction with the
school's physical education programs, water safety, and could
be utilized by the College of Idaho.
Approximately seventy -five people attended this Public Hearing

for the purpose of receivingniput into the preparation of
the 1977 Revenue Sharing Budge't's
The Mayor said that the City Council would take these
suggestions 'into'considerati 'on'as the develop th budget. lie
thanked everyone for attending the meeting.
There being no further business, the Meeting was adjourned
at 7:45 P.M,
