well that the employees employed at the cemetery of the City of Caldwell suspend their
labor8 on each Sunday of every week,
A Yea and Nay vote was had thereon with the following result:
Yea; Babcock, Stengel, Handford, Fenrich and Sandmeyer.
Nay: None.
Absent and not voting: McDannel.
Thereupon the Mayor declared the motion carried and the Resolution duly.
There being no further business to acme before the Council it was moved by
Handford, seconded by Fenrich that Council adjourn. Motion carried.

The City Council met on call of the DIa with the 7v7ayor, Edgar L. Oakes, pre-
siding.
On Roll Call the following Councilmen amaswered present: W.E.Babcock, Oscar
Stengel, W.B. Handford, G. M. Fenrich and M.S.Scindmeyer. Absent C. 0. McDannel.
The Mayor inforrrned the Council that the meeting was called for the second•read-
ing of Bills No 5 and 6' Proposed Ordinances No. 571, and 572.
It was moved by Be -cock, seconded by Fenrich that the Rules requiring the read-
ing of an Ordinance on three g eparate days be suspended and that Proposed Ordinance No 571
be read the second time by title and the third time in full, section b section, and
placed on its final passage. The P4ayor directed the Clerk to call the Roll on the motion
with the following results; Those voting in favor of the motion were: Babcock, Stengel,
Handford, Fenrich and Sandmeyer. Those apposed: None. Absent and not voting: McDannel.
The Mayor then declared the motion.had'earried by the necessary throe- fourths majority and
directed the Clerk to read the Proposed Ordinance the second time by title and the third
time in full, section by section. The Clerk read the Proposed Ordinance as directed.
The _Miasrion then being "Shall the Proposed Ordinance No 571, pass" ?. The Mayor directed
the C3- erk-to gall the Roll with the following result Those voting in favor were;
Babcock Stengel} Handford, Fenrich and Sandmeyer. Those opposed; None. A and not
voting: McD Thereupon.the Mayor declared that the Proposed Ordinance No 571 had
passed, and the Mayor, in open session of the Council duly signed and approved the ordin-
a nce, and the Clerk duly §igned and attested - %the same, which. became Ordinance No. 571.
It was moved by Stange, a(\conded by Handford that the Rules requiring the read-
ing of an Ordinance on three searate -fags be suspended and that Proposed Ordinance No 572
be read the second time by title and the third time in full, section by section, and
placed on its final passage. The Mayor diere the Clerk to call the boll on the motion
with the following result Those voting in favor of the motion were; Babcock, Stengel,
Handford, Fenrich add Sandmeyer. Those opposed: None. Absent and not voting: McDannel.

Stengel, Hendford, Fenrich and Ssndmeyer. Those opposed! prone. Absent and not voting$
McD Thereupon the 14ayor decla- -, ed that tb.e Froposed Ordinance pTo 572, had passed,
and the Mayor, in opens ession of the Council duly signed and approved the Ordinance, and
the Clerk duly sj; ned and attested the same, which became ordinance p2o.572.
Thereupon the following Resolution was presented to the !Tyor and Council by
Councilman TTandford, who moved the adoption thereof, which motion was duly seconded by
Councilman Sandmeyer.
RESOLUTI"11.

WFFREAS' 3.B. ITo. 220 is now pending in the louse of Representatives; and
Tr-77A ^, said H.B; *?o. 220 is an Act relating to artisian wells and artisian
basins; proudim for tie control and regulation of artisian wells; and, among other things,
excepting irrigation and drainage districts fro-, the Act; and,
vnH-r AS, Section 12 of said TT. g. T 220 provides, "The provision of f is Act
shall not apply to any irrigation District or drainage district which may dig, drill or
construct any wells within the boundaries of said irrigation district or drainage dis-
trict;" and,
WHEREAS, the City of Caldwell has within its boundrries three i- rigation districts ,
to -wit; pioneer Irrigation District: Caldwell Irrigation District; Golden Gate Irrigation
� District; end,
WHEREAS, the domestic supply of water of the City of Cnldvrell is entirely ob-
tamed from artisian wells; and,
1 '7ERFAS, the passage of the said Act would be detrimental to the City of Cald-
well,:in that said irrigation districts aforesaid, could drill wells and exhaust and
polute the domestic water Supply of said City.
PrOW, TTTrPErORE,BE IT RF.S2LVED By the Vnyor and Council of the "ity of Caldwell
that we protest the passage of A.E. No. 220 in its present form, and particularly Section
12 of said Act, in that it would be detrimental to said City' In that the irrigation
districts within the boundaries of said City coulr drill wells and menace the domestic
water supply of said City.
HE IT - RRT "FR RESOLVED That said Act should provide that cities within the
boundaries of any irri;-ation district have the absolute control of the digging, drillin
or construction of wells within its boundaries.
A yea and nay vote was had thereon with the following result;
Yea: Babcock, Stengel, ?=enrich, °andford and Sandmeyer.
Nay: 17one.
Absent and not voting; McDannel
Thereupon the Mayor declared the motionearried and the Resolution duly adopted;
There being no further business to come before the Council it was moved bj
Sandmeyer, seconded by Fenrich that Council adjourn. Motion matried.
