Council met in regular session pursuant to adjournment with Mayor Griffiths presiding, and Councilmen Adams, Bardsley, Steunenberg, Zeh, pis sent, Shbrb Clerk. Affidavits of the Bever River Power Co, showing that it had entered into the city and began the furnishing of electricity for lighting purposes in full conformity with its agreement an.1 asking to be released from its bond was read and on motion of Zeh, that were referred to the city attorney for his opinion./ Petition of 11. C. Gordon, et. al. praying that section No. 7 of Ordinance No. 229 be eliminated, as it is objectionable to the Oregon Short Line Railroad Co. for various good and surficient reasons, and is detenin;; them from constructing a side track, was read. Councilman Adam enters at this time. 4 ' I L Bill No. 34, by Bardsley, entitled, "An Ordinance Amending Ordinance No. 229, entitled, "An Ordinance granting to the Oregon Short Line Railroad Co.," a franc hire to construct and maintain a railroad track; for switching purposes on and over a certain alley in the city of Caldwell, Idaho, " Passed January 20, 1913, and Tproved January 22, 1913, by. striking out Section 7 of said Ordinance, and change Section 9 of said Ordinance, was read the first time. A motion was made by Zeh, teat the rules be suspended and the reading on three separate days be dispensed with, and Bill No. 34, read the second time by title and the third tine in full and placed on its final passage. The roll being called on the motion the vote resulted: Ayes- Adam, Adams, Bardslay, Steunenberg, Zeh. -5. Nays- None Absent Harrington. So the motion prevailed. Bill No. 34 read third time in full Fn d placed on its final passage. On the question, Shall Bill No. 34 pass? the roll being called the um resulted: Ayes- Adam, Adams, Bardsley, Steunenberg, Zeh -5 Nays- None. Absent Harrington. So Bill No. 34 passed, becoming Ordinance No. 230. A delegation of citizens from South Kimball Avenue waited on the Council praying that certain lights be placed at certain points in said section. Voted, on motion of Zeh, that the matter be referred to the street committee. G. W. Green made verbal objection to his meter readings. Voted, on motion of Steunenberg, that the matter be referred to the water committee. The following election officers and polling places were selected for the regular biennial city election, April 1, 19111 First Ward- Judges, F. J. Brobst, B. F. Hartkopf, Mrs. Amy Mitel -ell; Distributing clerk, Miss Ada Ward; polling place, old Baptist church. Second Ward- Judges, Wm. Kinkaid, J. G. Cowden, Mrs. Clara Powell; Distributi g clerk, Pyre. W. S. Wilson; polling place, Geo. W. 69tlliams carpenter shop. Third Ward- Judges, F. L. Keller, Lillian Potter, A. M. Cox; Didtributing Cler , Mrs. Y. E. Havird; polling place, City Hall. Dead of H. D. Blatchley, et, ua, conveying title to certain streets in the College Heights addition to the City of Caldwell, was, on motion of Adams, referred to tie street committee. Claim of Dr. J. S. Meyer in the scam of 022.00 for reporting vital statistics was read. i I, I The claim of the Caxton Printers in the sum of 315.00 fur blank book, recom- mended for allowance in the sum of X10.00 by the finance committee and, on motion of Zeh, a warrant was ordered drawn on the general fund for the amount. Voted, on motion of Steunenberg, that a warrant be drawn o. the Library Fund in the sum of $2.00 balance due on Library site for taxes. Voted, on motion of Zeh, that Earl Brooks be continued as assistant fire auto engineer during good behavior. Voted, on motion of Zeh, that the Ordinance governing tL•e fire department be referred to the fire committee.for investigation and report. The matter of getting experts to determine the difference in cost of running the pumps at the new pumping station reduced to accommodate the flow of water at the wells and that of smaller pumps was referred to the water couunittee for report at the next regular meeting. Voted, on motion of Zeh, that council adjourn. City Clerk. i i
