HomeMy WebLinkAbout1921-02-15city council minutesCOUNCIL CHAMBERS FEBRUARY 15-.1921 Council met in regular adjourned session with Mayor W,Grant Ward presiding and the following councilmen were Present; Dunlap. Fouling, nayman, Moors. Sutton and Wescott; On motion of Dunlap seoonded by Moore the following Resolution was adapted; RESOLUTION WHEREAS; the irrigating ditches as now construoted,maintained and operated by the Pioneer Irrigation Dietriot,on the following named streets and alleys to -wit; Dearbtrn St. from let Ave.to 20th Ave. West side of 20th Ave, from Cleveland Blvd.to Everett St, Cleveland Blvd. from Aven St. to 7th Ave. Albany St. from Kimball Ave. to C12th1_Aadnftbv6. Belmont St. from 7th Ave. to 12th Ave. and Chioago St. from 8th Ave to 12th bve. are not in conformity with the provisions of Ordinance No.146 approved October 27th,1909 and Amendments thereof and' WHEREAS; the said irrigating ditches are a public nuisance and menace to health peace, comfort, convenience and well being of the inhabitance and tax payers and general pnbli of Caldwell; Now.therefor be it resolved by the Mayor and Council of the City of Caldwell that the said above mentioned irrigating ditches are hereby determined to be and are a public ss nuisance and are hereby ordered to be abated and removed and reconstructed, maintained and operated in compliance and conformity with said ordinance No.146, approved October 27th. 1909, and with'the ordinances of said City of Caldwell and the,laws.of the State -of Idaho. And be it further resolved that the stid irrigating dltohes be and they -are hereby required to be constructed of concrete in- oomplianoe with the provisions for the construct- ing ourbs,and of shah dimensions and.carrying capacity as to safely carry the water turned in the ditch with out over flowing the sides 'hereof. - Moved by Dunlap seconded by Sutton that City Clerk be instructed to proceed to advertise for bids onourbing District No.S in the Raldwell News the offfoial paper of the City of 6aldwell. On motion of Dunlap seconded by nayman the assessment roll of sewer district # 8 was read and approved and the clerk was instructed to have same advertised in the Caldwell News the official newspaper of Caldwell Idaho. On motion of Dunlap seconded by Moore the request for kt street lights by residents of College "eights who referred to the Street Committee with power to act. City Engineer Fred McConnell reported the ditch in the alley between 18th and 14th Ave. and Blain and Arthur Streets, to be in a very bad conditlon.aAc On Motion of Wescott seconded by Sutton the report was spV"*ed and Engineer was instructed to have the Pioneer Irrigation Co. change the ditch ac000ding to his instructions. �Council adjourned on motion of Sutton .
