Council met in regular session pursuant to ad,jou ment with Mayor Gowen presiding, and Councilman Clark, Devera, Farrar, Gartt4 , Harris, Potynter present; Shorb, Clerk. Nat. Paschall, representing Goorge H. Tilden 8- Co., addressed the Council on the bonds. Mr. Otis and the Superintendent of 'hater Works gav the 91ty 9bme valuable information on water meters. The matter of opening up bids for cement sidewalk coming on regualrly bids were opened from Calking & Lesley and ?,4cGee & Allen, and on motion of Farrar the name were referred to the City 7nginner and City Clerk to check up and report at the next meeting. George Dement calla up the matter of rhangino the Calloway ditch and the same wan referred to the Street Committee. The Mayor reports the ,jail in a very bad condition, sanitary and otherwise. The Mayor appointed Harris to all the committees, taking the place of ex- councilman Gipson, except the Library committee, and Clark was appointed a member of that committee, vice Gipson, resigned. Voted, on motion of Clark that a fire committee be constituted consisting of three members to be appointed by the Mayor. Tha Mayor appointed Harris chairman of the committee amd jr to appoint the remainder of the committee later. The street committee was asked to open up the road through the Clara Powell place east from r level andFoul being a continuation of Ash Street. The Mayor informed the Council that he would make a deed to a right -of -way for a road along the east aide of the Highland Addition to make a road GO feet wide, being a continuation of Oregon Avenue. . Resolution No. 27, by Clark, "providing for the construction of a sidewalk according to plan 3 of Ordinance No. 148 of t&+ City of Caldwell, Idaho, along certain s streets and avenues and in front of certain lots and blocks in said city, and providing for the payment of such construction by an assessment levied and assessed against the property fronting and abutting on said sidewalk" was read. The question being on the passage of the resolution, the roll being called, the vote resulted: i1yea -- Clark, Devers, Farrar, Gartir, Harris, -A5. Nays - -0. Absent --- Paynter. So the resolution passed. Resolution P1o. 28 by Devere, 8providifig for the conetruction of a sidewalk according to plan 3 of Ordinance 148 of the City of Caldwell, Idaho, along Fillmore Street in front of lots 1[s to 24 inclusive in Blocks 31, 32, 33, 34 Washington heights Addition; Lots 1, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 37, 38, Block 39, Washington Heights Addition; All in the City of Caldwell, Idaho, and providing for the payment of such construction by an assessment levied against the property fronting and abutting on said sidewalk" wns read. So the resolution passed. Resolution No.29 by Farrar, "providing for the construction of a sidewalk according to Plan 3.of Ordinance 148 of the City of Caldwell, Idaho, along certain streets and avenues and in fromt of certain lots and blocks in said edty, and providing for the payment of such construction by an assessment levied and assessed against the property fronting and abutting on said sidewalk," was read. The question being on the passage of the resolution, the roll being called the vote resulted: Ayes -- Clark, Devers, Farrar, Gartin, Harris - -5. Nays - -0. Absent -- Paynter. So the resolution passed. Council met in regular session pursuant to adjourn- ment with Mayor Mower, presiding and Councilmen Clark, Farrar, Car•tin, Paynter, ptesent; Shorb, Clerk. The time coming on regularly for tLe opening of bids for the laying of sidewalks bids were submitted by Calkins & Lesley and Allen & McGee.
