The following petition signed by property owners was presented to the Mayor and Council: We, the undersigned owners, are negotiating the sale o£ :our properties to Safeway Stores and in order to consummate this sale it is necessary that the City of Caldwell vacate the alley running through our properties which comprose Block 32 of Caldwell, Idaho, according to the Revised Map thereof filed July 29, 1891 at 3:00 o'clock p. m. and now of record in Book 1 of Plats, page 20 records of Canyon County, Idaho. We therefore ask the City Council that should this sale be consummated if the Uouncil of the City of Caldwell vo uld be in favor of the passage of an ordinance signifying the City's intention to vacate the alley and in the event no persons are damaged by the vacating of the same to follow the proper steps to order its closure. The Mayor and Council approved the vacation of the above mentioned alley,provided, the lot is sold to Safeway Stores. There being no further business to come before the Council, it was moved by Councilman Burrell, seconded by Councilman Eggers that Council adjourn. Motion carried. %70r. City Clexk COUNCIL CHAI!BERS FEDRDARY 7th, 1955 The Regular Vonthly Meeting of the City Council met in the Council Rooms of the City Hall, with the Mayor, Jason C. Smith, presiding. Upon Roll Call the following Councilman answered present: Fran I'lomginst, L. E, Burrell, Adolph Eggers, Ernest Weick, L, P. Eldredge and J. V. Bettis, Application for Liquor License was read from Joe S. 19orris and Harold Hollibaugh, the fee accompany- ing the application. Moved by Eggers, seconded by Burrell that this license be granted if approved by the Chief of Police Upon Roll Call it appeared the motion was unanimously carried. Application for Beer License was read from Joe S. Morris and Harold Hollibaugh, the fee accompany— ing the application. Moved by Eggers, seconded by Burrell that this License be granted if approved by the Chief of Upon Roll Call it appeared the motion was unanimously carried. The bills for January were read and on motion by Blomquist, sec onded by Burrell that these bills allowed and i "rarrants drawn for the various amounts all of which had been approved by the Finance Committ ion Carried. John Myers was present and filed with the ?Mayor and Council petitions circulated by Caldwell Business Men regarding parallel and diagonal parking in the business area. Chief of Police, Keith Judd reported the results of a survey made by the Poli ee Department regar parking problems in the business area and recommended to the Mayor and Council long angle parking. Chief of Police reported he had purchased a new car for the Police Department from Lodge Motor Company. Councilman Burrell reported skating had been. excellent on the pond which was prepared by the Recreation Department.
