TYpon motion of Boone the matter was referred to the Street Committee for inveeti

Mr. McGee stated that the plat of the Canyon Hill Cemetery had never been filed
with the recorder and he asked permission to have the same done.
The matter was referred to the engineer and the Cemetery committee.
It was voted upon motion of Boone that Council adjorn until Monday evening
January 19th, at 7.30 o,cloek P.M.

Council meet in regular session pursuant to adjornment :s1th the President of the

prP9ent,9.Ben Punlap, Clerk ,when the following business was transacted.
A conmunicstion was read from Dr.W.J.Boone of the College of 7daho,offering to pay
the City a flat rate of $200.00 per year for the use of city water in the three college
buildings namely,Finny Hall,8terry Hall. and Vorhess Hall.
It was voted upon motion of Boone that the offer be accepted and that the City
Attorney be instructed to draft a contract to run one year From January 1,1914,atipu-
lating that the water is to be used for domestic purposes only.The rate to be in accord
with tho terms of the offer,said contract to become orerative when duly signed.
The following letter from the Fire Department dated at Caldwell,Idaho,January 15,
1914 was read,

Chief and Secretary of the Caldwell Fire Department do hereby request your Honorable
Body to grant a certificate as Veteran Fireman to C.J.Sborb,who ,joined in Mmrch,1893,
and John Hollrieh,who joined in January,1894.

It was voted upon motion of 9teunenberg that the request be granted and that the
Clerk be instructed to secure the Certificates together with a Veteran judge for each
of the two members entitled.
A plat of Mountain View Subdivision No.2,ehowing the vacation of certain streets,
alleys, lot e, and blocks as provided in Ordinance No.232,passed the 14th day of April,
1913,aas.received from Mr.H.W.Dorman.
It was voted upon motion of Adams that the plat an presented be approved.

The Clerk submitted a report of the tax transactions of the City with Canyon
County,covering assessments levied in the year, 1912, showing the sum of $$635.72 collected
by the County and which had not been remitted to the City.
It was voted upon motion of Boune that the matter be referred to the City Attorney fc
adjustment.
In the matter of the meter readings of the Lincoln Schuul for the months of April
and May of the year 1913.the water committee recommended that the sum of $30,35 be de-
ducted. from the said account;with the understand Ing,however,that all settlements in the
future must be baieed on the meter readings,unless the same should prove faulty.
It was voted upon motion of Adams that the report be accepted.
Bill Fo.6,by Adams,ontitled, "An Ordinance amending sections 11 and 12 of Ordinance
No.122,of the City of Caldwell relating to membership in the fire department and com-
pensation of members ",was read for the first time.
On the petition of Amos Miller for the vacation of certain streets in pallaway's
Addition,the street committee reported that the said streets were the only means of
approach to the grounds which were used extensively for camping purpusee,and also that
by closing the said streets the City wuuld have no way of reaching its sand bede,in
Indian Creek,and that for these reasons he did not deem it advisable to grant the r�-
gyest.
It aas voted upon motion of Boone that tLe report be accepted.
A petition was then read from the said Amos Miller asking that the City grant him
• lease of the said streets fur a period of ten,fifteen,twenty,or t:venty five years at
• nominal rental.
It was voted upon motion of Boone that the petitiun be denied,for the reasons given
In the report of the Street committee,on the petition for a vacation.
In the matter of records for the City Engineer's office,Steuneaberg reported that
the committee appointee to investigate the matter,had found that the records ware badly
needed and that the cost of the work including the necessary books was estimated at
about f850.00;and that the Engineer had submitted a proposition to do the work at the
rate of $75.00 per month,keeping the total cost within the estimate.

It was voted upun motion of Adams that action on the report be deferred to a later

estimates of the coats of the necessary record books and to report at the next meeting.
Adams reported that the Fire Department was securing information regarding an
alarm for fire calle,and that one of the plane considered was the inetallation of a com-
pressed air whistle,and that an electric ringer for the bell had also been thought of.
Mr.Adams was instructed to secure futher information in regard to the matter.

The Street Commissioner reported that he had received several complaints that the

It was voted upon motion of Adams that the night policeman be instructed t0, keep
'j tab of the are lights that did not burn and to report to the council.
TTpon motion of Adams the Mayor and Clerk were instructed to acknowledge the receipt
of a note from the village of Fa mett in the sum of $716,32,as reimbursement for our tax
money wrongfully paid them;and also to extend to the officials of Fhmett sincsre thanks
L for the settlement of the claim.
It was voted upon motion of Adams that the council extend to City Attorney,Alfred
F,Btone,a vote of thanks for his successful efforts in scouring a settlement of the
tax claim against the village of Vnrett.
It was voted upon motion of Boone that council adjorn untill Monday evening
February 2,1914,at 7x30 o'clock pp M.
