A motion was made by Gipson, that the rules be suspended and the reading on
three separate days be dispensed with and that Bill No. 33 be read the second time by
title and the third time in Pull and placed in its final passage. The roll being dalld
on the motion, the vote resulted:
Ayes -- Clark, Dever®, Gartin, Gipson, Paynter - -5.
Nays - -0. Absent-- Farrar. So the motion prevailed,
Bill No. 33 read second time by title.
Bill No. 33 read third time in full and placed on its final paasage. On the
question, Shall Bill No. 33 pass, the roll being called, the vote resulted:
Ayes -- Clark, Devers, Gartin, Gipson, Paynter - -5.
Nays - -0. Absent -- Farrar. So Bill No. 33 passed becoming Ordinance No.150.
The following was received from the Caldwell Fire Dopartment:

To the Honorable Nayor and City Council and Citizens of Caldwell:
The Caldwell Fire Department extends their henrtient thanks for the ippreciatin k.)
of tha work done by the Department and it will be the effort in the future to render
prompt and efficieht service.

Voted, on motion of Paynter that the Council adjourn until MondW evening,
January 17, 1910, at ff7:30 P. m.

January 17, 1910. Council met in regular session with Mayor Goeen prey Ung
and Councilmen Clark, Devere, Gipson, Poynter present; Shorb, Clerk,
Thos, P. Buckner appeared and asked that the following resogiution be passed:

Whereas, application has been made by H. A. Griffiths, trustee of the estate
of J. G. Turner & Company, a bankrupt, to the Mayor and City Council of the City of
Caldwell, to grant a rebate of 50n of the taxes for said City levied in the City of
Caldwell on a certain stock of ;jewelry situated in the City of Caldwell for the year
1908;
And it appearing to the satisfaction of the said mayor and city council that
said stock of ,jewelry was assessed for double its value for the year 1908;
Now, therefore, be it resolved by the mayor and city council that 50% of the
said taxes levied and penalty for said year be remitted, and the assessor and tax -
colleetoe of Canyon County is hereby authorized and directed to accept 501, or $24,20
in full and complete settlement of the taxes against J. 0. Turner & Company for the
year 1908.
A motion was made by Paynter that the resolution pass. The roll being called
on the motion, the vote resulteds
Ayea -- Clark, Devers, Gipsom, Paynter - -4.

The following claims were read and a motion was made by Clark that the same be
allowed on the several funds as Followaa

The Mayor retired and President of the Council Clark took the chair.
The following Regidteara were appointed for the Bond Election to be held
February el, 1910.
First Ward -- Mary Smith.
Second Ward -- Clara Powell,
Third Wadd -- M. E. Havird.
Voted, on motion of Gipson, that the City Attorney be instructed to begin at
once the necessary action to quiet title to lots 9 and IO,Fali Acres, known as Lake
Howard Park.
Voted, on motion of Devers, that Council adjourn until Monday, January 24,
1910, at 7x30 p. m.
