Subject: Public Input Regarding Deal Townhomes Subdivision - CASE NO(s): SUB24-000012
Potentially an opportunity for more attainable housing for kids and families, with an opportunity to purchase
their own townhome.
The proposed Deal Subdivision Townhomes development is in the Caldwell School District, and it appears that
it will likely house families with kids, thereby impacting our district, our schools, and our community.
The proposed development is zoned for Sacajawea Elementary, Jefferson Middle School (5th-6th), Syringa
Middle School (7TH-8TH), Caldwell High School as well as Canyon Springs High School. This small
development will only include 7 townhomes, so will have minimal impact on schools. Each of the zoned
schools have plenty of capacity to serve students who might live in this development.
We currently bus to the area of the development, but they could walk to Sacajawea Elementary as well. There
are continuous sidewalks along 3rd Ave, and there is a signal controlled crosswalk at 3rd Ave and Illinois Ave.
We consistently seek opportunities to create housing for families with kids as well as high quality employment
opportunities for the families in Caldwell. This proposed development potentially creates a few units of
attainable quality housing that would likely serve families with kids. Additionally, this development adds to the
center of the city, filling an underutilized area, thereby slowing down sprawl.
